Exception: Failed to find pre-roll point on tape

I am not an expert on Avid DV Express.

Presently, I am using Avid DV Express version 3.5 to control BayStor BK-2500 (a HDD based AV Archiver) to do RS422 Insert Recording.

I get a random error "Exception: Failed to find pre-roll point on tape".

I set the Pre-roll:

(a) to be less than 10 sec, I always get the above error message
(b) to be more than 10 sec, I get the above error message randomly.

I checked on this error message online and see that many people also get this error on Sony or other machine when being control by the Avid system.

I sincerely appreciate any advice to solve this problem!

do you get this when you capture? and or Digital cut? botton line is that there my be a break in your time code on the tape, and or not enough TC for the reroll.....
