EX1r--Focus lock in Macro Mode

Sorry if this has been covered already. Can I not manually lock the focus somehow in macro mode on my EX1r? I'm trying to shoot a simulation of a flying disc's POV as it flies toward a disc-golf basket. As the disc slowly rotates, I'm nearly touching the top of it with the lens hood (the disc itself is rotating on a spindle that is attached by an arm to the baseplate of the camera, which is attached to a glidecam unit, which is not attached to anything because I'm too poor to buy the vest). I was well aware of the MODE limitation (only wide angle, and only in "manual servo") but I just assumed I would be able to STOP the camera from focusing. What's happening is that the camera is shifting focus to the background as I execute the shot, even when the disc is not rotating. What gives?

all you have to do to enable macro mode is flip the macro switch to on, and slide the focus ring forward so it's not in full manual control.

You can still turn autofocus off using the autofocus switch and use the focus ring to focus. If you want it locked, don't touch it
