EX1 vs. HPX250

I am looking at getting an EX1/EX1r, which ever I can get for the best deal at the time and I have come across this little beauty (well so it seems) the Panasonic HPX250, I will be shooting sport and sport only with this camera, so lot's of zooming and one thing I have noticed with the HPX250 is in the spec details it doesn't seem to have a constant aperture? f/1.6-3.2, can anyone confirm that it's not constant, I am 90% sure it isn't, just wanted to make sure.

Has anyone else got any other suggestions for a ENG style camera, for around $4000-5000 (second hand/brand new) that'll be any sort of rival for the EX1?

Neither the EX1/EX1R nor the HPX250 have a constant aperture, both ramp to smaller irises as you zoom in. The EX1 doesn't SAY it's ramping, but it most definitely is. It's about an f/2.8 when fully zoomed in.

Oh ok, good to know I guess, what do you think of the HPX250 Barry? coming from the FS100, a Sony interface would be a homely feeling but I am definitely keen to get the best for my buck.

The HPX250 is a nearly perfect handheld camera. It's a little big but extremely well balanced, sharp, magnificent zoom range, and it has the best recording format you can get on any camcorder. It's the only 10-bit camcorder on the market under $20,000 (well, it plus the 370). I like it a lot.

It sounds so perfect, especially the 10-bit, can you point me in the direction of any really good review of the camera? especially compared to an EX1, as that's what I am currently fixated on.
