Hi,
I have tried lots of different conversion combinations although when I transfer the final output to my PC and play on QT or Media Player, the video stalls and suffers from 'green screen' syndrome.
The best results I have achieved is taking a roughly 200mb video (taken from an EX1 and rendered in Prores422 in FCP), then use a QT conversion to H.264, with a 350kb download limit and fast start (high), keeping frame rate to current and key frames to 24. I then resize the 1080x1440 50i footage (i know progressive is better for PC monitors btw) to 512x288 - sound I convert to AAC, 16KHz. I have tried many different variations of the above.
The resulting file size is about 3.2meg (still a bit big) and the quality is pretty good. When I send it to my PC (from my Mac), the result is as described at the beginning of this post. Help!
I am actually needing the image for Horsemart, which prefers wmv, avi, mpg etc. Annoyingly, when I converted using compressor to MPG, the resulting file size was 4.7meg and the quality was worse - in fact the quality was worse when I used compressor to convert to H.264 the same as FCP QT conversion!!!?? I have tinkered with the frame controls, but the quality is still poor and size to big.
Also, someone suggested simply changing the extension of the .mov to .flv, but when I transfered it to the PC, it could not recognize the file.
Any ideas?
PS - I found this site, which has some really high quality web footage and it steams loverly - how do I get to this stage with FCP and Compressor?
