Hey all,

New to this forum :) ,

I own an ex1, i am looking for a A Hot shoe monitor.

What is the best solution on a budget?

I have looked at the lilliput with ycbcr inputs.

Marshall and Ikan/nebtex unfortunately are too dear.

Anybody have any solutions, component out maybe?

Thanks

Ollie

Lilliput have a HD-SDI model now for a bit over $200 on eBay.
I've run the YCbCr input model on the EX3 with success, good for focusing.

Brilliant thanks do you know the model is it the 6689gl model? i have been looking at them. Do you think they are good monitors. Looking to get sg pro with red rock shoulder mount and attach the monitor to it :)

I think the HD-SDI model is called the 667GL, my mate and I have the YCbCr model on the Redrock Shoulder rig with (as of today..... hopefully) a Redrock M3.

It all works great, bit tricky to mount the Monitor. It's impossible to operate any good on the hot shoe so we got the small Redrock arm and a micromount and put it on the crossbar,
that way it's directly in front of the operators face.

EDIT: I should probably mention that with that monitor it's good for pulling focus but your colours are going to be off a bit.
The newer model might be a bit better, but I doubt it.

Nice looking at the same setup probs with letus elite, sg pro.

Have you any pictures you could inbox me etc? that would be a great help.

yeah i heard about the colors on lilliput, its pretty correct on the marshall ones but i would expect it for 600 pounds more.

Cheers

If you're getting a monitor to pull better focus then you'll probably want higher resolution than the Lilliput (and similar) which are really about the same resolution as the LCD screen. Those screens you can be 4 pixels off and not notice. On a one megapixel screen you can see within one pixel.

Try SmallHD, or ManhattanLCD, Marshall (pricey), etc.

Yeah all fairly expensive, but justified :)

Lilliput not a bad monitor, just colour balance really. Doesnt have false Color.

:(

You'd never get anything like peaking or false colour on a $200 monitor, it's a basic unit.
The closest thing would be the Marshall 5" HDMI at a bit over $500, that has a great image and lots of extras.
But it's only about 1.5" bigger than the monitor on the EX1 anyway.
