EX1 + Letus Extreme Question

Hi all,

I just got an EX-1 and am thinking of getting a Letus Extreme, but since I'm new to all this I'm not quite sure what specifications I should get, found here (http://www.letusdirect.com/cart/Letus35-Extreme-p-6.html)

Thread Size?
Lens Mount?
Rod Support System (which one, and do I need it)?
Camera Optimization Kit?

So basically I just wanna know what package I should order. Also, does the Letus work with the EX1 lens, or would I have to buy separate lenses to add on to the device? If so, which do you recommend? Thanks a million!
 
i had the exact same question... planning to purchase a sony ex1 and letus35 extreme - to use primarily with a nikon 50mm lens. i was wondering what is the best rod support system for it. i would really appreciate if someone could provide an answer on this thread (rather than having to go through lots of blog posts). thanks!

P.S. : i was familiar with philip bloom's impressive videos, also kudos to steve for his work :)

VERY helpful Philip pretty much sums up all my questions...thanks for that post! I just have a quick question for anyone who can help: Can I get away with getting the Support Bracket only, or would I need the 30cm complete system for the EX1? Not sure what the difference is. Also, is the EX1 Camera optimization Kit really needed? Thanks :)
 
Ok, I found the answer to my own question. From the research I've done, I'd go with the Letus 30cm +15cm for a basic setup. The 15cm would help you if you want to add a long lens, follow focus or any other accessory. So basically the longer the rod the more options you have for accessories. The 30cm +15cm is the most versatile setup. If you don't want to go with Letus, there are other options out there (like Zacuto rods), but these are more expensive. So here's the setup I got


Thread Size? 77
Lens Mount? Nikon
Rod Support System (which one, and do I need it)? 30 +15
Camera Optimization Kit? SONY EX1

I also plan on getting a Zeiss 18mm, 50mm, and 85mm.

So there you have it.
