Hi there, have anyone had the chance to make a test with the Ex1 to get the ISO or ASA? cose everyone is like saying something else but the most are around 600/800 i did a couple of small tests and got as well around 600 but couldnt really test it profesionally yet....

another question do you think when I use the letus extreme the ASA is going to change or remain the same? it should change right? cose i didnt test that one neither ;D

thx

Many people have reported 800, Adam Wilt reported 320, in my testing I'd peg it closer to 500.

The Letus Extreme costs about 1/2 of a stop of light.

yes exactly about 1/2 of a stop of light what does it mean the ASA is going down? if yes then how much? I mean like 10% or like 50 or 100 ASA?

It would be cool to know cose I have to do a documental and a coouple of TV Spots and i really don't have time to test it....

Each time you double or halve the sensitivity of a filmstock or a sensor, you're doubling or halving the ISO. So ISO 320 is twice as sensitive as ISO 160, and ISO 160 is twice as sensitive as ISO 80.

So to lose 1/2 stop of light, you'd cut the ISO # by 25%. So if a camera was 400 ISO and you lost 1/2 stop of sensitivity, it'd now be 300 ISO.

Not to be too technical for the context of this discussion - because what Barry said is correct - but since ISO rating works on a logarithmic basis, 1/2 stop differences are computed by multiplying or dividing ISO by the square root of 2, so 1/2 stop slower would be ISO 283.

At the Sony booth at Sundance (New Frontier bldg.) they are claiming 800 ASA. I can't confirm this but I can confirm that the footage is incredibly noise-free and this room is DARK.

Also, an engineer claimed that at 24fps 180-degree you should never see rolling shutter issues.

The ASC tests revealed about 320, but you can push it with gain and still have an acceptable noise level at 800 or more. ASA is a fungible thing on these cameras. If you can accept the noise, you could probably rate the EX1 at 3200.

I hate to disagree with an engineer, but what he said is absolutely false.

Rolling shutter issues happen at all shutters and fps. They are not big issues in most cases, but they are definitely there.
