EX1 going wireless with IDX's CW-5HD

I was looking for a way to record and project my EX1 footage "live" on two big screens during a wedding reception. I came across IDX's CW-5HD. It was my first time using this and I'm sure it won't be my last. It's a little to big for the EX1 so I taped it to my tripod and wheeled it around. I was told that there is an adaptor that fits onto the EX3's battery pocket which houses the transmitter than an IDX battery. The transmitter attaches to the HD SDI of the ex1 and the receiver was attached to a Grass Valley Indigo AV mixer. I just wish that the projectors were HD. The room size was 7772 sqft. Has anyone else used this HD wireless system? Is there another way the EX1 could transmit wirelessly and record using HQ 720P or 1080P?

I wish that I remembered to take pictures of this setup but I will next time I if anyone want's to see. Here is the link to the wedding highlight...

You will be able to see the screens just after the title.

oh yeh...mmm...the price : ( thats why I was looking for another alternative. Renting is the way to go for now. Can cost from $200 - $400 (rentals) depending where you go. After this wedding, one of my future wedding clients have already upgraded their package. Maybe another company will make something like this but smaller and more affordable.

I've been thinking about this sort of thing in the back of my head for a couple of years.. for concert recordings with multicamera shoots. The idea is each camera transmits it's video back to a control center backstage. Each camera is connected to a PTZ-equipped tripod and I control all cameras with joysticks, while seeing each shot and how it's framed. That's a megabuck setup, I know. But ten years ago, I never dreamed I'd be shooting HD for under a hundred grand, either. :)

Thanks for responding basspig...

I have seen someone controlling a remote camera with his current camera during a ceremony. Way too much gear and very attractive from the guests. I too am thinking something similar, controlling each camera (1 man team) for live events while projecting and streaming live.

This HD wireless system rocks.... so many comments from guests...just way too expensive to own. I really thought I would get more responses for this or other HD wireless workflows but I think this is the only way of getting this HD signal (4:2:2) wirelessly live using the sony EX1.

basspig, is there something that can transmit component (RGB) signal? If yes, would this transmit only 720P?

Agreed. I was thinking if you only need point and aim framing, then a composite transmitter might work. A friend gave me a pair of Radio Shack 2.4GHz video sender/receiver set which I have yet to experiment with.
If I could choreograph all camera moves from back stage, I could make tighter productions than what I currently do with three camera operators operating autonomously.
Of course in your example, projection requires a high quality signal. There's no substitute in that case.
