Ex1 Feature Trailer KERBEROS

I don't think the content needs to be criticized. I think the way it's presented is what needs work. The movie is made. His goal is to have a trailer that hits the demographic he is after while possibly pulling in viewers beyond that demographic, while indeed not turning off too many.

Thanks again! The fact that this little 3 minute montage of image and sound is stirring things up at all is interesting. And certainly not to be confused or taken as ANY reflection on indie cinema or other filmmakers.

The trailer that is up for KERBEROS is only one presentation of what we have made - more to come I am sure. Some will appeal on different levels to different people. None will be perfect.

And horror does not have to be 'fun' to be good horror. Fabrice Du Welz is a genius - I had trouble getting through "Calvaire" - but that does not mean it was not full of genius. There are many, many movies I do not care for or even like, many that I find disturbing or offensive, many comedies I can not find the humor, stories I find tedious and pointless, but I recognize that me liking them has little to do with their place as art or the care and craft of storytelling.

Here's a blog post that was just sent to me - more erudite than I could be.

We all assumed you meant Snap Dragon your "friend" and sound assistant? but no need to clarify. Everyone needs all the help they can get.

Hey - Thanks guys! I can agree with some of on all most all points. Still, this is meant to stir things up with a bit of excitement - it's the "extended red banned" version after all. Couple quick things; I don't even consider the movie itself to be an action movie - it's very story driven and with some strong character development on three major characters. I admit it's hard to see on this first version - this is slanted a bit more for the "Rambo crowd".

This is not even close to "every gunshot the movie has" or punch or fight. This is us pushing the limits of our very small budget and crew. And last, "Everyone looks like bad guys except the girl" - Exactly! No innocents in this one!

I appreciate the comments - both positive and negatives. Soon, I'll cut another trailer that is much truer to the nature of what we set out to do and the tone I feel the movie really has. Your comments and ideas will help me shape that I am sure!

Here is the first trailer I played with long before we finished filming - I'm sure there will be several other versions before I'm done :)

Thx again to all!

Respects!

As some know, I am known as a dick here - so I will be that dick: Why should we care who wins, when two bad guys fight? What draws us into the story?

As someone who used to work in acquisitions for a large video distributor, I would say this: your trailer gievs me the sense that your film has no story, is black on black depresssing, and is nothing but a series of violent acts without meaning.

Now, I'm sure your film is more than that, but this is what a distributor will think seeing the trailer. There is no pitch, no hook, nothing at all.

The cinematography is very, very nice, but your trailer should sell a script too. Your trailer leaves one wondering if one was written at all.

Nicely-stated, Robert. You've expressed all the points explicitly which I implicitly was thinking about this trailer.

Love the shots, good action... I agree with whats been said about figuring out this story a little bit. Lots of good eye candy though. I think you need a good Mr. Voice...."In a world...."

Also the last shot of the sequence needs to be something else, more poignant , enlightening or meditative, hook us to want more, that last shot is just a lil confusing. Awesome work! Can't wait to see more. By the way what happened to the little girl shooting her hand as a gun... I liked that, innocence mixed up with all those "bad guys aiming. Best of luck!!!!
