KERBEROS - my second feature film, (shot on a stock EX1 with many posts on this site) will make it's big screen debut next month at Indie Fest USA Film Fest in Disney (Anaheim, CA)

While still not finished with the sound, and will have little score in the mix at this screening, this will give us a chance to see the results of my post production on some of the biggest screens with the brightest projectors, and of course all THX certified sound systems....

Good or bad - it will probably never be projected better! I know because my first film - BLOOD TIES - which was shot on the DVX - won the fest 2 years ago.

Pretty cool seeing a movie filling up a 55-60 foot screen from state of the art projectors. Even though I stare at pixels all day, I was stunned at how a DVD could be blown up so massively.... really changed my thinking on Hi-def and digital video in general.

More to come - as I scramble to make this sound like a movie!

Of course would love to meet and show what we've pulled off if anyone can can come. Think it will be obvious why it took me over a year to make this! And what the heck - it's Disney! :Drogar-Dum(DBG):

Gonna have some technical questions for some of this site's gurus on MPEG2 color shifts and H264 Hi-Def coming pretty soon!

That's great!!! We also have two short movies to be premiered in Sacramento on the 40ft screen at The Crest theatre downtown for a local film festival. This will be our first big screen projects with the EX1. Previously had shot in DVCAM. I'll compare notes!!!

Congratulations. On the DVD to large screen, its go to be relative to viewing distance...

I was watching a BluRay version of a Russian ballet last night and you could see one of the static cameras was SD. Sure it still looks ok, but when intercut with decent HD it was pretty obvious to me on a 52" LCD at 2-3 metres

Hey, hey, I was watching XDCam footage on a 12' wide screen we just built here at the Lair and it looks amazing, easily besting all of my Blu-ray movie collection for clarity, color fidelity and cleanness of picture. On movies, I frequently spot out of focus shots or shots where the director used a lesser lens or film format. All stuff that eluded my eye when I used my 47" LCD. The amazing thing about XDCam footage is that the detail is down to the pixel, when the lens is properly focused on the subject. In addition, the shadow detail is incredible. My IN82 projector has 10-bit color, and I'm seeing deep into the shadows and noticing detail that I never knew the EX1 recorded. I'm sitting 8' from a 11'9" wide screen and it all looks great. Can't say the same for half my movie collection on Blu-ray.
