I've been working on a camera mount for the EX-3 for a little while now (see pictures). I'd be interested to know what EX-3 operators think.

Some of the features of the mount are:

- Compact design (can be left attached to the camera)
- Compatible with Sony type tripod plates (VCT-U14/VCT-14)
- Locates to camera in 3 places. Easy attachment and removal of camera from mount.
- Protects base of camera
- Solid Aluminium construction - anodised black
- Allows mounting of Mattbox system
- V-lock or Anton Bauer battery mount for powering of EX-3 from standard V-Lock/Anton Bauer type batteries (optional)
- 2-position shoulder pad. Pressing the release button on the back allows the shoulder pad to slide back for comfortable shoulder operation - or forward for mounting on the VCT-14 plate. The V-Lock battery moves with the shoulder pad to help with balance

some additional options are:
- extension rods: to extend rods at rear of mount and allow other accessories to be attached (standard 60mm rod spacing)
- bracket for attaching radio mic receivers (or other accessories)

There are a few minor tweaks to be made - but essentially, what you see in the photo is close to the final version.

We are now in a production run of the EXMount for the EX-3 and expect to have EXMounts available for shipping in approx 2 weeks.

The website - www.exmount.com has been updated with more information, pictures and pricing.

Any questions, please email me - mark@exmount.com - or post here.

Awesome job. Nice engineering, pretty much a prefect solution. Just wondering. Any chance of getting a blue disc bolt rather than yellow?

Shouldn't be a problem to change the large thumbwheel from gold to blue - might just add a bit of time to the anodising process.

We liked the combination of Gold and Black - but its certainly possible to have a different colour combination.

I'll check if there is any difference in cost with the anodisers - but I wouldn't expect there to be much.

Having just tested one of these, I can vouch that this is the best shoulder mount on the market today. It is a worthwhile investment that turns the EX3 into a legitimate shoulder mount camera.

Do they or you know what is the optimal weight or battery type and weight to put on the back, to even out the weight distribution. It may fill great but if is still front heavy then nothing is gained, IMO.
You should be able to just barely keep it from falling back off your shoulder with one finger. Your arm will never hold up to 3 or 4 hours, of never coming off shoulder for a shoot if its not balanced.

Killer design and workmanship. My question is, it a complete balance. (Tore shooting shoulder last year, so this stuff is very important to me, arm was never the same after)

I find that it balances quite well with a Dionic 90 and a pair of Lectro wireless attached to the rear, but I know that Mark has also designed weights to create further counterbalance if you don't use wireless. I can't vouch for the "barely falling off" aspect because
we all have different builds and shoulders, but to me it feels a helluva lot better than anything I've used or rather dealt with, previously. The tripod mount and method of attaching to camera is much quicker than other mounts, too.
