I am testing an EX-1 and am having trouble importing into FCP on a MBP (6.02 w/ PDZKP-1 and sony software installed)

When I open Log and Transfer Nothing happens and when I drag the folder into the window a message pops up saying that the folder contains unsupported media or an invalid directory path.

I can view the clips in the XDCAM Transfer window

What am missing?

Is there a set up step that I am missing?

Also what is the difference between 1080p30 CBR and 1080p30 VBR?

You need FCP 6.0.2 for the Mac because only FCP 6.0.2 has the necessary XDCam EX codec to play your clips in FCP.
CBR = constant bit rate, and VBR = variable bit rate.

If Sony is providing a plugin for FCP, why don't they provide one for Adobe Premiere/AfterEffects? It seems a CODEC would end this madness. Instead of what CS3 users are going through now:

Sony, are you listening?

We have only one EX1 at the moment, and it's an absolute bear to work with the files, because they have to be run through Vegas first, to decompress them, and then we have 500+GB of uncompressed HD to edit in Adobe Premiere. It takes hours to decompress all of that on a single core Athlon processor workstation.

Sony really needs to come up with a better way to support the camera's file format in various NLEs, or it will become an obstacle to purchase of the camera.

I am running 6.0.2 and have already downloaded the PDZKP-1 plugin from sony (I included that info in the 1st post but did not write it clearly)

The message reads:
folder contains Unsupported Media or an Invalid Directory Path

I am wondering if I have to create a new directory path or If I need to download something else?

Scratching my head . . .

No more scratching . . . I did not realize that Log and transfer was not the door into FCP anymore (as with the P2 cards), but that I have to import >>> XDCAM and then select the clips in the SONY Transfer Window and Import.

Thanks to all

Kelly Olson - thanks for the link, Noah is a good guy.
