EX-1 goes bonkers

Major problems as soon as I turn on camera.

Anyone have any ideas? I've tried white balance and nothing happens. I've tried every button on the camera actually.

Did anything happen to it? It almost looks like what happened with an old 3 CCD camera that was dropped once. The prisms were not lined up.

I did drop it around 9 months ago. I've put a couple hundred hours on it since and it's worked fine. I got it to work for an hour yesterday, after turning in on and off 10 times, then it went back to being screwed up later. Thanks for the prism info, I figure a spendy fix at Sony is my only hope.

Hmmm - snow. Maybe it got a little damp?

Try putting it next to a dehumidifier or air conditioner whilst the camera is switched on. Half an hour to an hour may fix it if your problem was similar to mine:

As I noted, after 30 minutes switched on in the stream of an air conditioner, it was fine and put in 5 hours of shooting that day. It's not missed a beat ever since.
