The only 10-bit SDI recorders that I know of are the Wafian @ $17,000, the P2 Mobile @ ~$12,000 and the P2 Portable @ $5300.Okay, so what's the preferred device for 10bit SDI capture in the field?

Well... depends on the bandwidth. 8-bit 4:2:2 @ 35mbps probably wouldn't be any better than 8-bit 4:2:0 @ 35mbps. It seems like it might be, but the additional demands on the codec would probably cause compromises in other areas.so, is 8-bit 4:2:2 ?mbps that much better than 8-bit 4:2:0 35mbps?

Sony went to 50mbps for their 8-bit 4:2:2, and that should be enough of a bump to ensure all-around better performance than 8-bit 4:2:0 @ 35mbps.
The main interest in the XDR and NanoFlash seems to center around the 100mbps long-GOP 4:2:2 and the 160mbps intraframe 4:2:2. And yes, at those bitrates they should be significantly better than 35mbps 4:2:0, even if they're still 8-bit.
