Hi, this is my firts post here so try to understand...

I am planning to buy a camera in next six month, dependin on my projects and how they evolve. I have used Hvr-Z1 at my job and was thinking to get z7, but on collague told me about EX-1, and now I my interesting to that has been increasing.

I need own camera to documentaries and for some corporate videos. I would also like to film some shorts and music videos. Is Ex-1 capable to do these things?

Why it seems that no one here likes z1 or z7?

The EX-1/3 has larger chips, so it will have more to offer.

But, do some searching as you might not want to deal with the rolling shutter and and any issues that come with it.

Put some extra money together and get the EX3.

I was nearly going to buy the EX1 myself a year or so ago and glad I held on. EX3 is more adaptable and can be shoulder or handheld (with strap around my neck).

If you need to buy now, go for the EX3 with something like the XDR or nanno/flash unit to record in 4.2.2 ... if not, wait for the Scarlet by Red. I'm buying the EX3 this month or the beginning of next month because I have uses for that camera right away. For the price point and quality of image, it's a great step up!
As has been mentioned check out the weaknesses of the EX cameras before you make you decision!

Barry Green on this forum has written about the rolling shutter and others about the wobble.
