Frankly I think that book is useless. It's like a users manual with a few more bits of information. Don't waste your money on it. I was thinking about coming out with a DVX DVD that would show you what cinematography is with the camera. [/quote]

I didn't know that you had a copy of this book Walter.

I find this book invaluable and highly reccomend it to anyone that owns the DVX100 and (A).

This book does not 'show what cinematography' is but illustrates a thorough examination of the camera, it's features and settings. I have seen about umpteen pages of persons who have purchased this Book/DVD set and rave about it.

Serious; you have never seen this book/DVD have you?

Re: EVS - not so good

I would buy a cinematographer’s guide specific to the DVX.

But I think Walter is grading the book/DVD based on something it’s not intended to be. If he's serious.

Re: EVS - not so good

Just take one look at this site and all the reoccuring questions that are clearly answered in the book. I thought the book/DVD was a hell of a deal. Sure it had some information in it that I already knew, but it also had a lot that I didn't. Plus the DVD comparisons were excellent. For someone that doesn't have access to all the camera/resources and accesories that Barry does, this book is invaluable.

Re: EVS - not so good

I assumed Walter was using sarcasm in an attempt to add comic relief to this rough and tumble thread.

Walter?...

Re: EVS - not so good

I don't think this thread is bad, nor does it deserve to "die"... On the contrary, I find it quite educational. Bad things happen occasionally, and some people obviously need to learn how to cope with them. Even though I do very much sympathize with Sinematik, I believe Rush's attitude has been absolutely right and as helpful as could be, given the circumstances.

I've had my DVX100A for ten months now. I use it regularly in VCR mode since I don't have a deck and I've never encountered any problem with it.
