EVS got 7 cameras

Just received 7 cameras, and calling everyone down the line to get them their cameras. Got tons of 4GB P2 cards and some 8GB too. Some cancellations have brought people further down the list :) We are finally moving ahead... Thanks for everyone's patience.

I'm number 235 on the EVS list. I just did the math and figured out that if they're getting seven cameras every 36 days (Dec. 29 to Feb. 3), I should have my HVX some time in May of 2009. D'oh! Help me Obi Jan Kenobi. You're my only hope!

See?! This is why I love Panasonic. I make a little joke invoking Jan's name (or taking it in vain, if you prefer), and before I can even check my e-mail, Jan is already on it. Is there a better camera company on the Planet? I don't think so.

Good news for all.. Let the footage rain down on us sponges waiting in line.. Soaking up the HD.

Relax, we are kicking up deliveries as the production pod comes up to speed. It will be fine and long before 2009. ;-)

Is panasonic sending out cams daily, or do they save them up untill they get a boat load, and then let them out?

Are they going out as 2 shipments per month?
That seems to be the case if we just got a shipment, and the next one is due at the end of the month.

If that is the case, then even if each store got 20 per shipment, it would be better to get on anyone else short list instead of the back of a larger companies long list.

I believe it's spelled, "Obi Juan Kenobi."

(Spanish for Jan.)

Agreed about getting on local wait lists, or elsewhere (which it's worth noting Rush has been advocating all along). I, like a lot of others, had been under the impression that as a larger dealer with a longer list of pre-orders, Panasonic would be allocating greater numbers of units in initial shipments to places like EVS in comparison with other dealers, which has certainly not been the case up to this point. I heard today it could be at least 6 - 8 weeks more before they are able to break the 100 mark unless something dramatic happens.

I'm staying on the EVS list for all the reasons that have been discussed here and elsewhere and because I'm a big fan, but have finally decided to spread my chances with another dealer. A little late perhaps, but at this point who knows?

I think it's great that Rush got 7 cameras, but I'm really surprised hearing all these other dealers get as many or more than EVS.

How Much for the 8GB and the 4GB Cards?
Haven't gotten pricing on the 8GB yet, but list is $1400, and I will know Monday what sell price is. $624.95 on the 4GB.

I have a feeling Jan knows something we don't. :) I have my fingers crossed, which matches my wires

Thanks GH, just goes to show both of us are thinking the same thing. You're a smart fella.

I know I was hoping for more too, DN... I have people waiting with checks in hand to pay me for HVX shoots, and EVS's rental cameras are off-limits to employees. I hope someone local at the top of the list will let me have their spot, and split the camera with me. :)

Thanks Dave, because if you don't say it, no one will believe that I encouraged people from day one to make orders with other dealers as well... :) I think the EVS list grew astronomically because I enforced the no-deposit policy till the last day.
