Panasonic main warehouse in Japan has accidentally sent a container of DVX's to the US that should have been sent to Canada/Puerto Rico.:undecided Panasonic added the Magic Bullet and DVD Handbook to them and sent them out to dealers in the US accidentally. I assume this is due to extremely high demand for that camera.

I wanted to immediately post that this has happened, and that Jan Crittenden as well as Cathy and all the Panny reps are currently scrambling their fighters to figure out how this has happened, and how to amend the situation. We at EVS have also received a pallet of these cameras, and have suspended shipping the cameras until Panny tells us what to do. We have shipped about 8 cameras already to our customers, and they will be told that the serial number is non-US. Please email me at rush@evsonline.com if you accidentally received one of those cameras. Jan and Cathy will notify me what to do, and then I will notify you in turn, whether we will have the cameras shipped back, or if this is a simple paperwork issue.

All serial numbers starting with "F5TD-" seem to be the radioactive variety....

:undecided

Thanks for the news flash Rush.

Another testament to you and EVS and how you do business. (Notifying the masses of this urgent matter)

Ill stick it up.

Uh... are you sure it's "F5TD?" Mine starts with a different letter but the "5TD" part is the same...

EDIT:

And no Rush, I didn't buy mine from EVS. I bought mine from B&H. Just making sure of some things...

The units in question also had two warranty cards: Panasonic Puerto Rico and Panasonic Canada. If yours says Panasonic USA, then all is good.

Also, these units JUST came into the country last week. If you bought before then, you're totally fine.

At the end of the day, though, all will be made well and there will be much rejoicing.

It could be, since we're only one of many dealers who received these DVX's...

Thank you sir, and thanks for making it a sticky post

I just checked, and my warranties say US/Puerto Rico, so it's all good. :engel017:

But still, thanks for the heads-up, Rush. I must say your service is much better than some other companies who would neglect to tell their customers of potential mishaps.

Zack, please email me at rush@evsonline.com your serial number or call Panny and verify it. A month ago sounds awful long, this has only been last week's batch, from what they say.

ttt, same deal, if you bought from us, email me your serial number or call Panny. I will get a lot more info tomorrow, and I will post specifically what should be in there when I speak to the Panny reps again.

Voodoo XT, thanks, I appreciate that

Hi Rush,

This seems like a bit of a panic button. Did the units actually have the Magic Bullet and the DVX Book inside, or at least the sticker on the outside that indicates that these items may well be in the box? If they came from Kent Washington, I will bet they did. This would clearly indicate that they are not gray market.

It might just rather be a case that Japan failed to send me a complete list of Serial Numbers. It would be pretty unlikely that we would send you grey market cameras. I really wish you would have sent me an email before posting this because now I am receiving emails from all sorts of people including people that did not even purchase from you guys. First I heard about it was last night from our sales team, and have sent an email to Japan for clarification.

So give me a day or two to get an updated list installed into the Data Base at the Rebate Center and I am sure that all of the serial numbers that you have in stock and the ones you have sold will clear.

Best regards,

Jan

Please stop the panic, there is only a small serial number mix up. All Cameras for North America have three warranty addresses in them. We track by serial number. There has been a serial number mix up. Please take this thread off of STICKY status. It gives it way too much high profile. I have received 10 emails so far and all of them have been US product. Please, I have to work a trade show again today and people will be waiting for hours not knowing. It is just a simple matter and it will be cleared up in a matter of days.

Thanks, now, everyone take a deep breath. ;-)

Best,

Jan

Sorry Jan, we were already starting to get calls from customers who were not able to register their cameras, and told by Panasonic that they received Gray product. We weren't sure which serials were which, and no one at Panasonic was able to tell us. We only repeated what Panasonic said to our customers. My guys were trying all day to get an answer from someone, and I only posted this thread late in the afternoon to avoid any further confusion. The last thing we wanted is for someone to think we are shady gray-dealers. To us this was a very drastic situation, and better safe than sorry. I did tell everyone to call or email me and not you. I am currently calling all customers who bought these cameras from us and individually discussing it with them.

Barry if you want to delete this thread, I am cool with it, now that I talked to Cathy and ensured that customers don't have to send cameras back.

Everyone can send the cameras to me for "proper disposal.":engel017:

I'm glad this is getting straightened out.

That's cool Rush, I know you were just trying to be proactive about a problem and we all appreciate it. I'm going to leave this thread here, but I'll lock it down since it seems to have served its purpose.
