EVF Mount Solution

That could work but you would need to add a side-facing vertical NATO rail to the top of the camera, so that would mean a bunch of additional pieces.

Maybe that part is enough in addition:

To fix it to the rod-extension at the plastic handle.

Be aware that the Zacuto part used 1/4 inch screws.

And if required in addition to the included parts maybe such a part:

That fits also to the EVA1.

More complex solutions would include top-plates and nato rails. Depends on your overall needs.

WSCHMID, from the two above links, the clamp adapter is all I'd really need to support a Zacuto EVF on my lcd. And the NATO rail would be additional, allowing me to adjust the EVF forward and backward?

I would be pumped if I really only needed these two parts!

You don't need to spend big bucks on accessories. It's extremely easy to buy a piece of 2" aluminum channel at any hardware store and cut it to fit, then drill it to mount on the three 1/4-20 holes on the top of the camera. Then attach an inexpensive rosette block from SmallRig anywhere along that channel. I did it with a hacksaw, files and a drill in about ten minutes. Total cost about $45. Add a SmallRig Arri rosette extension for about another $60 so you can place it anywhere you want.

Pictures?

Key thing with your EVF mount is to make sure it's strong, solid, steady, secure. Make sure it takes the pressure off the LCD screen itself too.

You'll be pressing your eye/face into to add a stability point.

Zacuto is quality and works. I also find their z-mount overly clunky, and over priced. But whatever. I have it and it works. But I can't imagine you couldn't do something just as well otherwise. Again, just make sure of the above points and you'll be good.

Sorry I haven’t replied with a picture, I’ve been busy on two jobs and dealing with a lot of stress. I’ll try to upload a picture in a day or two...

But it’s pretty simple to cut aluminum with a hacksaw, I cut the upright section from the back to about two inches from the front, then cut up from there. I drilled two holes for the SmallRig rosette assembly, mounted and marked the perimeter, then shaped it with files.

The I cut the base about an inch wide (I’m guessing at dimensions, it was a while ago) . After shaping it with files to look right, I drilled the three holes to mount it to the camera.

I’m not a machinist, just a duffer with handtools, but after painting it black it looks like part of the camera ...

Not being good with tools, I got the smallrig (amazon) cheese plates (narrow strips - one for each side) and used a couple of 15mm rod to 1/4" thread adapters and a 6" rod to make a quick Zacuto EVF holder.
Pretty cheap, not overly adjustable - but still playing with options...

The plate is pretty beat up, I've been using the camera a lot. If I had time I'd get it powder coated...
