EVF for the F3

Thanks litpixel, I think this will work for me......I'll get in touch with them and see if that can deliver one to me in France whilst I'm over here...

its a good viewfinder. I think the alphatron coming out will blow it away however from what Ive seen. drawbacks to kinotehnik - the focus asst is not that good on anything but tighter shots and they are pretty easy to focus anyway. and they are not very quick at responding to emails. a little frustrating.

For those of us planning to buy an EVF or for owners still having problems to mount them properly on the F3, the Edelkrone Monitor & EVF Holder is an extremely well designed accessory that deserves a look...

Not so expensive and can be delivered worldwide. Ideally for the SmallHD DP4 EVF.

Yes i have it with my AF101 - and its great! but Monitor & EVF Holder is the only product at Edelkrone that does worth consideration, it holds my smallHD 8.9` monitor no problem! the rest of edelkrone is junk, i had modula 7 and i just cant tell how happy i was to resell it (i almost lost a hope and took a trip to other country to sell it!).

Just received Edelkrone EVF mount. Great product, very well made. It does what it suppose to do. Simple to mount and dismount. Friction arm works good, nice and stiff. I opted for additional accessory mount as well ($60), to mount it to Berkey plate. All togethe, for about $200 a great option to mount EVF or monitor to F3...

i know it's a bit of work, but it'd be great to see som pics of the Edelkrone on an f3.

Hi all,

customs and tax was all together $23.40 CAD. Shipping by DHL... SHipping charge was $22 US for the mount and accessory part. No issues with delivery what so ever...

Here are some quick snaps from this afternoon...

Here is the accessory (shoe) connector on Berkey plate:

There is another main position of the evf unit: on the front end of the Berkey plate, with evf holder "hanging" over and beside the lens. In that position evf if in "sweet spot" for off shoulder shooting. I will eventually order another accessory holder from Edelkrone so I don't have to move the one mounted above LCD...
If you need a EVF holder, buy this one with confidence. I would like to get Solid Camera one, but for more than twice the price of Edelkrone, i think this one will do just fine for now...

Cheers!

Here is "off shoulder" EVF position with DP4 and handles/shoulder support:

Remind you, my set up is a "franke-rig" put together from bits and pieces inherited from my DSLR and former EX1 set up... I just refuse to spend $$ on brand new support hardware every time i get a new gear. Reuse, recycle! This layout does the job very good when shooting off shoulder. A bit "high up", but as me being a bit "vertically challenged" it all comes to a sweet spot all combined :)...

I love that green baby sock over the obsolete VF which Sony could have left away :-) Actually all those VF at the very back of these cameras are totally obsolete IMO, Sony-Panasonic-Canon they all can stop putting those useless VF´s and save us money and space. The only time I used it, was as a 3rd support point stuck to my forehead while working with the LCD. I do like the swedish EVF holder but also their shoulder rig with the back support looks practical to me. Having that rod going down your back to have a support at hip level gives you hands free operation.

Thanks! I used rear vf first day I got the camera... After realizing it is garbage, never again... Now, after using Canon C300 I can say I was able to use vf on that camera much more. That's for another forum. Ideally, Sony should man up and offer 2 options of upgrading rear vf or just removing the whole assembly... That would prove some real modular thinking. My "apple coat" (not baby sock, my god!) will stay there as long as current crappy vf is there... I cut out a cardboard that is placed under to prevent any stray sun light affecting the screen.
Bottom line, I would love to have nice vf on the back of my F3. The one I can use in those situations when I need to strip down the camera to bare minimum and shoot in tight space or in a cockpit of a chopper or small car. The vf that I can verify focus, exposure, etc...

ooops sorry, apple coat then... never heard of its existence. Do you have pear jackets, pineapple blazers or plum suits as well? :-))
