EVF DTL - To be or not to be!

I was hoping you guys would shine some light on the EVF DTL. I understand its purpose is to bring more detail to the dark shades of your capture.

When I turned it on during some darker live footage it seemed to make white hard edges on everything in the LCD. I haven't used it since.

Anyone have experience seeing the difference with the EVF DTL on or off? I cant tell the difference on my 42' tv since it has a dark picture anyways.

Thanks guys...

EVF DTL is only available on the built in LCD of your HMC. It helps you to find the correct focus, it won't be affecting the final image.

Yeah I believe all it does is do a Photoshop-esque "sharpen" filter - I use it a lot when I want to be sure I'm nailing my focus. It works nicely for me :)

I leave it on all the time, sometimes when I switch it off, just to look, I am almost disapointed the image isnt that sharp, you do get used to it after a while.

No, it is in the scene settings. Download the PDF of the manual, makes it easier to find info on settings. Keep in mind it only works in 60i/60p modes and there are a few other settings that will keep it from working (it will be greyed out in the menu).
