Wow this thread got a lot of replies.
Yea I'm glad you like it, none of the mainstream stuff compares. I tend to like hip hop that is more inspired by jazz as well. They are kind of old but Digable Planets come to mind.
Those are one of the hundreds of people that just want to make money and have no respect for the real hip hop and what its all about. I love hip hop but I hate where it went in the mainstream world. All these people are just jumping the bandwagon and making everything worse.
I forget who it was but some guy actually predicted people would use hip hop in the manner in some book he wrote around the mid 90's.
I mean a lot of kids that aren't doing so well finacially, of course they will jump on the money bandwagon and make a rap album.
Of course not everyone is like that.
It's just that those "thug life" rappers and what not really do grab a lot of media and a lot of it is negative. too bad the media isn't interested whats goin on at the other side of the spectrum of hip hop.
this subject(state of rap/hip hop) really irritates me.
if it wasn't for our society giving these people all this money then we would finally hear the end of this crap.
I think hip hop groups should take the live band approach though. Makes a show much more exciting. Just like The Roots and Emanon(not eminem) with the Breakdown Boys.
And I think Hip hop needs to go back to talking crap to the Government like the old days because it sure has been bad in the last couple terms.
oh well whatevers.

my roomate showed me them, it's stuff he likes to skate to. I'm really glad because I didn't know about any of the underground stuff, which blows away the mainstream IMO.
