slinks, those are some great hip hop artists!
my roomate showed me them, it's stuff he likes to skate to. I'm really glad because I didn't know about any of the underground stuff, which blows away the mainstream IMO.

Yea I'm glad you like it, none of the mainstream stuff compares. I tend to like hip hop that is more inspired by jazz as well. They are kind of old but Digable Planets come to mind.

speaking of hip hop.. anyone seen this one over in the dvx clips section

http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=48945

how is that for lyrics?

Those are one of the hundreds of people that just want to make money and have no respect for the real hip hop and what its all about. I love hip hop but I hate where it went in the mainstream world. All these people are just jumping the bandwagon and making everything worse.

I forget who it was but some guy actually predicted people would use hip hop in the manner in some book he wrote around the mid 90's.

I mean a lot of kids that aren't doing so well finacially, of course they will jump on the money bandwagon and make a rap album.

Of course not everyone is like that.

It's just that those "thug life" rappers and what not really do grab a lot of media and a lot of it is negative. too bad the media isn't interested whats goin on at the other side of the spectrum of hip hop.

this subject(state of rap/hip hop) really irritates me.

if it wasn't for our society giving these people all this money then we would finally hear the end of this crap.

I think hip hop groups should take the live band approach though. Makes a show much more exciting. Just like The Roots and Emanon(not eminem) with the Breakdown Boys.

And I think Hip hop needs to go back to talking crap to the Government like the old days because it sure has been bad in the last couple terms.

oh well whatevers.

I'm done here

Paolo

i think the consumer is mostly to blame.

anyone remember these guys?

Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy

I LIKE WILL SMITH, HE RAPS HAPPY!

lol

Music lyrics have always been crappy, theres good and bad. The 80s hair bands were all about banging chicks and getting stone drunk. I don't see it as too much worse now just because the beats different. The message is still the same.

guess this group?

There’s a new game
We like to play you see
A game with added reality
You treat me like a dog
Get me down on my knees

We call it master and servant
We call it master and servant

It’s a lot like life
This play between the sheets
With you on top and me underneath
Forget all about equality

Let’s play master and servant
Let’s play master and servant

All I can say is.......I'm really glad that people like so many different styles of music. Just think how it would be if everybody (but me of course) loved country western music, I would be left with no choice but to commit suicide.

I always say that I don't like Heavy Metal, but I turn on Cirrius Radio and find myself driving down the road listening to ......yep.......the Alternative Radio Station and rocking along my way. Same with Rap.....all of a sudden I find that I've been listening to it without feeling like I want to kill somebody. But.......if it's country western.....I know it right away and the station button gets punched. Now put a country western song in the right place in a movie and it could work for me.

Wu Tang, Eminem, Rakim, Mos Def.

Thats the only rap I really like, the rest suck..and their ruining the world. People watch a music video and think its cool to talk with an accent, to call themselves pimps and thugs, when the truth is its really emberassing. Only in America can you call yourself a pimp and be looked up on.

the only real country stuff i like is the Brian Setzer stuff because he adds his own style to it. To me Johnny Cash isn't country music... I would consider it Cashian music. He added his own stuff to country... he basically made his own kind of country. Setzer did the same thing

that dude seems OK

but REAL country is
Hank Sr.
Johnny Cash
Patsy Cline

EDIT ... I thought you said you liked REAL country ... not REALLY liked country, lol.

Hank Williams Sr., Johnny Cash and Patsy Cline were known drug dealers and advocates of violence in their time. Ask anyone. It's a fact. Seriously. No I'm not bullshlting you. Please you have to believe me.

er ... uh ... ADVOCATES of violence ... you mean randomly ... like we ADVOCATE that you randomly punch people walking down the street?

You know what? I'd love to start doing that. Seriously. Jack you must be in with the higher powers. What do you think about having a seperate music category on this forum? Talk to the Gods man!

Pffft TV has nothing to do with it. Lets blame TV lets blame video games, lets blame music. Its middle class struggling to survive in all the restructures of companies under free trade and globalisation. Parents have no time to be parents. The average joe used to get by, now he doesnt.. people fall by the wayside. Viva la revolution.

let's get rid of people ; the world would be a better place without us. the trees would grow, the rivers would flow, no pollution, and no solutions to what we messed up in the past. let the garden grow wild around this concrete jungle........if you are going to get rid of a cancer, nip it in the bud?
