Everybody is selling low hour DVX's for HVX200's... why?

Can't help but notice the growing number of extremely low hour DVX's for sale lately. Some as low as 7 hours of use! Why? These people must be upgrading to the HVX200, that's why! Seems like a good enough reason, but if a camera has been sitting for year a half and has less than a dozen hours of use, don't you think it seems a little silly to upgrade?

The mind boggles.

Yep, it's weird. I guess they just want an HD cam to gather dust instead of an SD cam. It's a higher-quality dust, you know.

I don't know if it's always that simple. Sounds weird YES. I'm one of the people with with under 8 hours on my DVX that I'm thinking about selling.

The backstory is that I bought it when I helped found a production company. We shot a few projects to get practice and then the camera was supposed to be used for a 13 episode webseries that got made, but with somebody elses camera since I had creative differences and left the company ( I got the boot).

I have now been spending all my time taking care of a new baby and designing homes to pay for the 20k plus I put into all my gear. So, I really haven't had time to shoot anything. I am going to be shooting a couple projects over the next couple of months and probably with the DVX. So I should get up to about 12 hours. :).

I guess the reason I'm saying all this is because it always seems like one thing from the outside, but sometimes there are a lot of other reasons.

I want an HVX, because I have a feature planned that has a very high concept and I want to hedge my bet and have something better to blow up with if the need arises. I also like the P2 idea a lot more than my DVX with the Firestore.

The DVX is great, but it's not always practical to shoot and shoot often. No matter how much the desire is there.

LOL

The DVX is too much camera for some people ... Guess the HVX will change that for them :cheesy:

I lucked up and bought a used DVX100A with 48 hours on it for $2,200. So I am glad I ran across a great deal!

For the record the odometer can easily be turned back.

I'd love a second DVX... I hope I can find one in good shape when I'm ready.

Let me know when you need another good one. My HVX should be in by March, so I'll be ready and like I said it'll only have around 12 hours or so. Plus a Firestore, wide angle, focus gear, etc.

I'm hoping the HVX will make me a better filmmaker :) (..for your Dakotapod)

really?... Is this true?

I have no idea how it happened, but mine reset to 0 not long ago. I'm not big on keeping track, but I know it had well over 100 hours on it and one day I saw that it read about 3 or so hours. I've never tinkered with any "secret" menus or anything...maybe it got "saved" and reborn or something.

Dammit, Runyon... where do you keep running off to?! You're one of my favorite DVXuser posters. You should do it more often... (posting that is).
