EVERY Michael Bay cliche

True, but I never watched Michael Bay movies for deep plots and amazing dialogue. I watched them because I like seeing stuff blow up :)

Don't look at me, I love Bay-o's. And Michael's movies. Sure, they are explosion-ridden, VFX heavy, and full of dramatic Sound FX, but I go for that stuff.

I appreciate the more sophisticated films too, don't get me wrong. But I still have a "blue-collar" streak in me. So, I drink my Pabst with my little finger out, as the upper crust should.

From that trailer, it's as if MB said, you want to see overly used crap? I'll show you overly used crap, fire ze missles!!!!

It's not meant to be a deep plot. If someone was expecting to find that the dissapointment is really their own fault, not Michael Bay's. He makes a certain type of film, and he does it very well.

However, I don't see why black dip transitions are necessary between every clip of that trailer, same as it was for the one before and a couple of unrelated movies I can't remember right now.

I've changed my mind on Michael Bay. I used to hate him with a passion, but after going through a few scenes in Transformers frame-by-frame I think he's an underrated genius. Well, maybe not a genius but certainly a guy who knows how to tell a story with a camera.

I think Michael Bay represents all that is wrong with Hollywood cinema...and yet I couldn't help but enjoy Transformers in all its cheesy dumbness. Nobody is more surprised by that than myself. I have no excuse. It's my eternal shame, like a guy who got wasted and slept with that ugly fat girl in the bar.

Hey, I'm just talking about the trademark Michael Bay shots -- meteors plowing through buildings, cars being flipped over on top of explosions, etc.

Bingo. It's like buying an $8 guacamole burger from Red Robin and being mad it doesn't taste like $75 filet mignon. Not only was I not expecting a filet mignon when I ordered the burger... you know, sometimes I just prefer the guac burger to the steak.

Mmmmmmmm... guac burgers... dammit, now I'm hungry...

I didn't like the first Transformers but this trailer looked pretty good. I watched it without sound because I am in work and it came across really well visually. That is something many people don't give Michael Bay credit for. He has a strong visual style that many people just don't have. Still, his movies tend to be films I watch once and rarely watch again.

Thought it was Armageddon 2, then Pearl Harbor 2...ok Transformers....

I still like The Rock with Sean Connery & Nicholas Cage.

Another thing that I noticed is that the dialogue is external to the action. Very little of it is describing ongoing action or providing narrative -- it's all cheesy quips and humorous comments that work to develop character without unnecessarily explaining the action.

some Bay Cliches.

Bad Boys-Car crashes
Bad Boys II-A lot of car crashes
The Island-More car crashes
The Rock-again Car crashes
Transformers-Yep. Car crashes
Armeggedon-flaming rocks from space crash into something
Transformers-more Flaming Rocks disguised as robots from space crash into something
All of the above-Dusk shots of something
The rise-up-into-shot-180-twist-low-angle-dolly-move-shot
The 360 spin through wall shot as seen in BB2 and Transformers-Dope by the way
All have super hot female actresses
Kate Beckinsale
Scarlett Johanson
Gabrielle Union
Nic's girlfriend-The Rock
Aussie Hacker-Transformers
Meghan Fox
Liv Tyler

I am sure there are more. But I still enjoy his films.

Whoa, what did I miss? RR burgers are better than mignon!

MB's motto "If it won't fit force it!" re: studio bank account, no penis refference ment FTR.

I thought this was a kid / teen movie? What's all the deep plot talk about?

I think parents should stop watching kids movies, it ruins parents more but dosen't phase kids.
