Ever used vinyl banners for bounce?

The company I work for has tons of scrap banners that were printed on vinyl, the backs of which are solid white. Has anyone ever used this material for bounce? I know it seems silly to ask, but I'm not able to actually test it out right now.

I don't see why not, it's a white surface right? Test it out.
It might not be the best material, but I don't see why it wouldn't do the job of a basic bounce. You'll need a way to frame it so it's not flapping around, but that shouldn't be too hard to do.

Seems like it could work in the right circumstances. What size are they? If they're any smaller than a 6x it probably isn't worth it since a sheet of bead board is 4x8 and doesn't require any assembly. Unless you want to staple them to a batten frame to give you something a bit more rigid than bead board...

The potential advantage is that vinyl can be rolled/folded up for easy storage/transport. But for most purposes, they'll still need some sort of frame to hold them in position during use.

I once brought over a vinyl banner for that purpose, and it worked fine (just a little seepage to the other side). It even had a flexible stand. I thought it was the most brilliant thing. And it was FREE!!! Then I lent it to someone and that was that. I'm holding out for the next one that some store decides to throw away.

Check out a church, they print lots of banners.

Most large format printing businesses throw out a LOT of stuff. Messed up prints, client errors, etc.

I sealed my crawlspace with white vapor barrier and that stuff is awesome for bounce. Absolutely un-tearable.

You can definitely use those. I often carry a large white cloth as well as black cloth to cover these so that I get uniform reflection as reflectivity of surfaces varies.
