I have a T2i and my company is asking that I prepare to do a Friday night football game show where I hit several high school games in one night. This won't happen til the fall but they want to do some test runs. Next weekend we are having a company picnic where everyone is playing softball so i thought it would be a good time to test my ability to use the DSLR as a "video" camera.
So what are all you event shooters using? I feel like I am going to be racking focus all day long... do I need a rig with follow focus on it? I will be all handheld so I don't want much weight but I also want to be able to get critical focus... any suggestions are very helpful but (as always) money is going to be a large issue (probably don't need to go over $500)...
If thats not possible, I will be trying to convince them to buy something like an HMC40 for the games in the fall (by then surely prices will be low on used ones)
