Hi from New Zealand.
Recently I filmed a concert for a band. We did it over two nights, and had 5 DV cameras. The concert was a couple of hours long. So we had about 20 hours of footage that I used to edit.
My question is: how would I do something similar using the hopefully-soon-to-be-released P2 camera?
I am guessing that each camera would be attached to a laptop with a large hard disk and we would be streaming to that. But am I right in assuming that a 60 Gig hard disk would only store one hour of HD footage?
I read that they were using P2 cameras for the winter olympics, with something like 35,000 hours of footage. I am sure they are not storing all this on P2 cards and so must be ouputting to some kind of array of storage computers. But how?
Finally, I see that Apple has a cute wee "mac mini" - might this be a means of storage of footage out in the field - maybe without the need for a screen and keyboard - just plug into the camera and shoot??
Any thoughts would be appreciated. (I realise that the whole P2 "problem" is an on-going point of discussion - but it is one I would need to solve if I was to use it for the filming of a long event or a documentary where I wanted hours and hours of footage.)
Thanks,
Jeff
