European model

Hi guys,

I bet you have had this question lots of times, but I haven't found out exactly and clearly what I wanted to know: What are the limitations (if any) of the European model compared to the American one?

I think I remember having read long ago that they were thinking of cutting off some features for the ones in Europe (sound, frame rates...).

Many thanks.

different framerates. the most noticable being that we are limited to 50p instead of 60p. also there is no 24p, but 25p. AFAIK that´s it.

The European version has every feature the US version has.

The differences are in frame rates. The US version offers 720 and 1080 in 24p and 30p, whereas the EU version offers them in 25p.

And, as alpi69 pointed out, the fastest frame rate in the US version is 60p, whereas in the EU version it's 50p.

the plus side would be that it has

1440*1080 (chroma 720*1080) vs 1280*1080 (chroma 640*1080)
and
1280*720 (chroma 640*720) vs 960*720 (chroma 480*720)

please correct me if im wrong.

PAL is 25 f.p.s, wouldnt shouting at the slowest setting of 50 f.p.s yield the same slowmotion as NTSC at 60 f.p.s?

Shooting 50p for playback in a 25p timeline results in 2:1 slow motion.

With the US version, you can shoot 60fps for playback in a 24p timeline, resulting in 2.5:1 slow motion. It's a little slower, but not night-and-day different.

Thank you Barry, could you point me to the 6-way cam shoot out with Adam Wilt, having a hard time finding it.

Thank you Barry. I have bin on a trip to southwest France shooting a travel program for NTDTV, I used you're DVX book for a lot of help, great work.
