Europe: An even longer wait?

Well seeing the HVX is going out like a snails pace in the USA, what are our chances of getting one on time in Europe. I guess they are all made at the same factory in Japan, and if turning them out has been slow to the States, they will be in no rush to make the PAL version while they have a massive back order of NTSC models to fulfill.

So are we clutching at straws if we expect the HVX to show up in Europe this spring? Is it finally going to show up mid to late summer?:undecided

I have a feature planned for June and was hoping to use the HVX but I might now have to rent something instead.

Dude nobody is going to give you the answer you want to hear but my guess is you will have yours by May of 2008

Yeah, and P2 will be up to 32 GB per card by then!:grin:

My dealer says March, earliest.

I doubt there will be many this side of NAB 2006... one year after the announcement!

I heard something about a new sony model to be announced soon, with progressive scan and interchangeable lenses for the prosumer market. This information comes from a video professional that I knew from Germany in a job. Maybe this is true, maybe bogus. I think its bogus, but who knows?

As for more resolution for the Pal HVX, maybe that would be a bad thing, seeing that the ntsc version has noise issues- more resolution= more noise...

I'm still eagerly awaiting for the Hvx, tough, and the singertest footage as well as the Kaku Ito's Bike with slowdown really impressed me, as well as the spectacular Basketball clips... Jarred and Barry, are you sure these clips are not color corrected?

And less resolution=less noise => no resolution=no noise :-)

Clips are not color corrected. Jarred and Barry said it. Remeber that HVX works with 4:2:2 color space.

i was waiting for the hvx200 for too long now, i just bought a dvx100b 2 days ago. pana blocked my decision for 1 year with the hvx200 announcement (mockup, rumors, various announcements ....) - not very fair - and now we ll have to wait 5 or 6 more monthes in europe for a good product but not as revolutionnary as i expected. i m waiting for NAB2006 playing with the best dv-only cam which will ever be made. hvx is too new, hvx200a will be good perhaps.

Absolutely positively no clips that come from footage that Jarred, Evin or I shot have had any post work done at all. The basketball, desert, kitchen table and karate guy stuff is straight raw from the camera, no post correction of any type.
