GH4 EU vs USA/Other GH4 differences

Is there a way to physically tell the difference (model number or something?) between the European GH4 with a 30 minute limit and the other regions GH4's without the 30 minute limit? The only way I know of at the moment is to just record and wait to see if it goes over 30 minutes.

I am assuming that you know about the European GH4R camera that has no recording time limit and comes with the V-LOG profile already installed in the camera. ( the GH4R has pretty much replaced the older GH4 with the 30 minute time limit )

Yes, I'm just asking to know if I am buying a used GH4 to be able to tell quickly if it has a 30 minute limit without having to sit there for 30 minutes to see if it records past it.

If there's no SD card in the camera, look in the Language menu subsection. If you see English and Spanish only, it's the US model with no recording limit.

If it has multiple European languages, it's the EU model with 30 minute limit (presuming you don't have the GH4R).

If it has Japanese only, it's the Japan model with no recording limit, but no English menus!

With an SD card in, if you see R29:59 listed, then it's limited. If you see a bigger number like 1h24m it's the unlimited model (depending on SD card size).

HTH :)

Cheers,

Paul :)
