ETC function is causing crashes in 720p mode

Hi everyone - not sure if this is a common problem or not:

I have a hacked gh2 - using the "safe" eoshd vanilla hack - 44 mbs

and using BOTH transcend 32 gb and Sandisk 16gb (30mbs) cards i get this same problem.

When i shoot in 720p 50 (i have the cam changed to PAl output to change from the factory 720 p 60)

AND use the ETC for reach (this is on the Panny 45- 200 lens) - i get the recording stopped due to card speed error - the camera goes unresponsive and i have to do a hard reset - remove battery - to get it to work again.

This does NOT happen with the 1080 24p mode at the same bit rate - 44 mbs

Anyone heard of this issue before ?

My bit rate settings arent particularly high and i am using the faster cards so i am a bit concerned.

I was really looking to get a good 720 p overcrank with long reach (ETC) solution for shooting off shore watersports - so this one has me in a bind.

Is there a work around ?

What I read is that 720p is hard and adding ETC to any video mode is also hard. Thus ETC+720p is the hardest. You might consider using Ralph's Sanity hack, or Lpowell's Motion Flow hack. Both of those hacks have focused attention on stability of all video modes... Al

That's exactly right and the most hazardous case is when using a Lumix lens with over-sharpened distortion correction. With Flow Motion 1.0, I recommend using ETC mode with 24L, FH, and H modes. If you're also using a high ISO, I'd set Noise Reduction to +2.

And using one if Eoshd patches. Switch to something else from one of theron patch wizards.

Matty, I'm also about to play with this setup ( ETC, 50p, ) as well on the GH2, but knowing that the 720p is not going to be as robust as the 720p on the Gh1 I'm prepared for some tweaking. LPowell now has a few things that will help, as soon as I get a result let you know.

Thanks for the shout-out, Rambo, I've just released an update to my Flow Motion v1.11 Patch, with failsafe support for all PAL 25/60p modes, as well as support for ETC in all NTSC modes except HBR 30p and FSH 60i. You can find it here:
