Hi everyone.

At work, I use Avid Xpress Pro HD 5.14 and evertime I want to export a "screenshot" of the movie I currently edit (export > options > images.... jpeg, bmp....), the software crash (exception at ........).

Did you know how to fix this problem? With the version 4.6, I was able to export images from a footage easily.

*LOL* You absolutely right!

The error message is :

An ILLEGAL_INSTRUCTION exception occured. For more information see the error log:
PATH\Avid FatalErrorReports\Exception_2005.08.26_09.16.38

The other one is :

Exception: Structured Exception, ExceptionCode: 0x00001d, ExceptionString:ILLEGAL_INSTRUCTION, FaultAddress:0x187fc2e

This next question assumes that you're using Windows XP Pro.

Are you set up as an administrator of that Windows machine, or is it a user account or something different? There are some reports of that error for people who are not local admins on their machines. Since you say this is at work I know a lot of corporations restict Windows logins in an effort to keep things up and running. That might be causing your problem.

If that doesn't solve it, let me know and I'll bang my head against the wall some more. :)

My account on the machine is set to Computer Administrator. (I know it is not the "administrator" login, but, it should work.

Before upgrading to HD 5.x, I was able to do the export. It's quite strange, but I will try to use the "administrator" account and test Avid with that account and I will give you news.

Sounds great. I'll start thinking of other possible causes in the meantime. Just in case.
