that is exactly what i was going to ask!
i remember i got my dvx-100a last year on christmas eve and the first time i really used it i was down in miami shooting a friend who is in the cirucs and the second day i turned it on and freaked out it was all white thorugh the camera!
it took me about 3 minutes to figure out it was the iris being wide open!
i was freaking out trying to figure how i was going to get someone to repair the camera really quick while i was a thousand miles away from home on my first shoot with the new camera!

be more specific, is it bright? does that mean white?
on the left side is a wheel and a button, it is labeled iris, press that button next to the wheel.
does that change anything?
if you put it into vcr mode what does that do?
can you take a digital photo of the lcd and post it?

How long have you had this camera? Is it possible to return it for a NEW one? I mean if you just got this thing.

got it used, but the mack warranty transferred to me. It has 184 hrs on it. Is it possible that the Firewire port fried? the playback functions work fine, but no video. Even if I hookup the firewire to the PC, there is no picture on the live window. Playback works tho... thoroughly confused....I shot some b eautiful stuff today too...arg...
