error- 2046

i shot some footage with my 5DMKII last december. down loaded the CF chips to harddrive.
most all of the clips open fine with avid but some i am getting a "error-2046 couldn't open file XXX_XXXXMOV because it is not a file that quicktime understands"
i think it is some problem with the file name.
i don't know how to open a quicktime file to play with it
any ideas would be appreciated

I had issues with Quicktime Player trying to play back .mp4 files I encoded myself. It was not 2046.

The issue I was having was due to a security update Quicktime Did to prevent some exploit. However in the process it seemed to make some files incompatible.

The quick fix was to get MP4UI and change the code identifier on the audio track from 112 to 64. It seemed to fix the problem.

Quicktime files have headers that contain metadata. If any of it is currupt or not to Quicktime's liking, it will be bounced back at you even if the file is playable. Most people online are recommending using a different media player to check your files. I would recommend that as well

Try searching "Quicktime Error ####" I don't think 2046 is quite right since I'm not getting many results in google.
