For the past month I have been getting ERROR 20 on my 5D mkII. Apparently this is a known mechanical problem with the Mirror Box, Shutter and/or other mechanical failure on some 5D2 Models and the only fix is to send it back to Canon and have it repaired. So I sent in my unit and Canon shipped it back saying they replaced the mirror box and adjusted some of the electronics. The next day after getting it back I had a video shoot and I noticed the err 20 code return toward the end of the shoot. Uh oh. So I did some testing today and shot continuous mode in RAW. I could only get about 5-6 shots off before the mirror/shutter locked up and would get either ERR 20 or ERR 30 "Shooting is not possible. Turn power switch to and again or re-install the battery" up on screen. After about 10 attempts with different CF, battery, lenses I could not take a single picture nor could I switch into live view without ERROR 20. So now I have to spend another $68 on shipping and insurance to get it back to Canon in hopes they will apply the correct fix, then test it extensively and/or replace the unit so I am not stuck with having to pay to send it back yet again.
Anyone else have this issue where they've had to resend their err20/30 "repaired" mkII back immediately? What other things could need to be replaced besides Mirror Box? Could they have installed another defective box? Bad luck, quite annoying. :violin:
