FEATURE: Epitaph: Bread and Salt Feature film

Thanks, I may dye the hoodie black and keep the coat blue or wear my black trench and keep the shirt blue. With a sleeveless undershirt and the hoodie, underneath the black coat shouldn't be tight at all. I like the black coat because it looks better in the shoulder area and it matches the black jeans.

The short stake will sit on the side area with the pistol. The long stake in the bag as shown. It has a metal hilt and is useful for fighting creatures with swords or staffs. The DOE don't use stakes, they use silver swords and guns. (They don't like too close because the monsters are so fast).

Fist of God is the only DOE member with a stake weapon on the team and she rarely uses it. Stakes don't work on all the creatures. Esterie have no known wood alleries so only the other vampires (and vampires specifically) die from stakes. We've made blessed and silver weapons a catch all.

Also a lot of creatures classified as vampires in modern mythology (if you do some reading on the good ol' internet) are not. Esterie have all the workings of vampires. What mainly classifies a vampire is need to suck the blood specifically. Other creatures are separate spiritual entities. Esterie also like to pray on Children (but they will bite anyone) so they seem to be a cross between vampires and succubi. Locke can tell them apart by scent and sometimes the way they look to him when he sees them.

By the way, I feel some DeJa Vu here, you know they're in talks for a Blade 4 right. I feel like as long as I play around with the Locke character Wesley Snipes will have work. LOL.

Isn't Wesley getting a little "long in the tooth" for this kind of action film? Maybe he can take the place of the character played by K. Kristoferson and bring in a protege.
Sorry, couldn't resist.

You know action heroes never get old, look at Chuck Norris, LOL. But yea, they're talking about a fourth one. I thought the franchise was over and I'm ready to do my thing and here we go again. But seriously it really doesn't bother me anymore and I do like the movies aside from the worldview the story is real good (minus three).

Was on the bus today. Didn't want to leave the house, but I had to check my PO Box and decided I should get out anyway. I got on a different bus once I got downtown and ended up passing by Blick. (The bus stopped in front of it, LOL). I just had to see...

I jumped off the bus and went into the store just to enquire about clothing dye. (Utrecht didn't have it nor did the hardware, but I did see some on eBay for $2.99 plus postage). The woman was very polite and said "Upstairs, second isle to the left."

I went up there and there it was hanging in the isle. Packets of clothing dye for (you guessed it) $2.99. But they had no black. I mentioned that to the attendant that was walking around then he stopped and said, "That's odd." He noticed two rows of "Silver Grey" dye. "Hmm." He moved a packet to the side and there was my black.

My hoodie is now black. Black pants, black hoodie dark blue coat. That's what we're going with. Now all the costumes match the comic. I'm not doing the motorcycle jacket because honestly, it's way too hot in Chicago, maybe last year but not this year, (we're having a real summer, high is 90 degrees, about 75 - 80 in the shade) I got hot just from dying the hoodie and also I don't have a motor cycle. LOL. I'm going to dye my jeans so they'll match the hoodie.

On a side note, while ago I tried to dye my stripped hoodie with Chroma and it didn't take, just made the white areas grey. It's a good thing too because it didn't mess up the hoodie at all.

Yea, slowly but it's happening. I've been trying to get the script tight. I want it to tell the story but have room for the action. There's a lot going on and it's not where I want it yet. People's motivations need to be much clearer to keep it from being a 2 dimensional movie. I'm changing some things. I want the bad guys to make an offer to Victor too.

And hey Brandon and crew, thanks for the "Feature" tag. Sweet.

Locations:

This is the Jacobson's library in their Synagogue. You may remember this
from Divinity, we're using the same location, as they are free.

Columbia College as our greenscreen room if it's free. They're running a lot of
classes there this summer so we may have to just use the halls.

Hallway that will probably greenscreened too.

I want to get this rooftop scene from this window too.

Isn't that roof awesome? I'm going to open the window and film then use that for a background shot in a clip. I want to have an Estrie come crashing through a window. But I'd like to see her come in flying then crashing through the window.

Been in the Film Discussion forum all day. LOL. Good thing I'm on summer vacation. I gotta get back to work.

Nothing special. We plan to cast in August and have a bunch of great actors to choose from. I did go back and add Dr. Frank Stein (Eric Von Frankenstein) to the script. I wanted him to get some play because even in the comics Frank Stein Institute is mentioned but we never see him. I may have to do some greenscreen and miniatures (or maybe find a set and add to it) because I'm thinking of at least one shot in Eric's lightning lab, which is an updated version of the old lab from the Frankenstein films. That red hallway up there will be an FSI hallway.

On a side note, I did find a working monitor in the trash across the street awhile ago, thank God, because I'm sitting here thinking "this is going to be my production monitor". I guess this is going to be my general monitor as my laptop's backlight inverter suddenly started to die on me. Last Friday the screen started to go on and off and may go black for hours at a time. I hooked this baby in and it's working like a charm.

I've been slow on the updates because I actually do have footage of nighttime test to show, but I haven't converted it yet. My neighborhood is well lit at night so we can shoot without lights save for some kind of light to go atop my camera to get light on the actor's faces. The street lights give off a yellowish hue. The alley behind my house will serve as, well...the alley behind Locke's house. There will be fight with a vampire assassin and in front of my apartment (or down the street from it where the lights are really bright) there will be another one by the bus stop. The neighborhood will be a vampire warzone if I have my way.

There's also several ladies who are decently trained in martial arts and want to be Estries. They seem to think they can take Victor Locke and the Defenders of Eden on, so that should be fun. I have to first see how they fight then train them to fight the way I want them to. One of them is a stunt woman coming from out of town. There's one girl who I'm kind of excited about because she's been training for years, but she's only sixteen. But she's been begging to be in the film so I told her if she's good enough and her mom or dad give permission then she can be in it.

Also a dirty, scummy hacker took down IndyPlanet, which houses Night Phoenix Press's online comic shop.

Don't forget to do a location visit with your soudguy.

And have a good soundguy (can be a student who's doing sound at school for movie/tv, or someone just graduated or wanting to help, or maybe you just pay them ?) But use "friends" as helping for food, building things etc...

I can not claim this as hard as possible :2vrolijk_08:

We may do ADR on some of the outside stuff. I'm not a huge ADR guy as you all know but I'm comfortable with ADR on the outside dialogue. One scene is pretty emotional so I may not do ADR on that. But we'll see. I have to find a sound person and it probably will be a student. I usually use students.

If you have a good sounduy AND a good boom operator.. Maybe ADR is not needed...

But if you shoot in the middle of a city...and it's playing in the 13th century.... then you need ADR.

Goals:
The goals for this film are generally modest and I believe they can be accomplished

1. Make an Exciting Action horror film based on comic book
2. Do the film on a small budget, under $10,000 (think way under $10k)
3. Shoot on an HD camera
4. Work with and enhance common but Sci-Fi effects
5. Cast local talent for most or all of the parts
6. As I talk abut in my "Action Filmmaking" book create an overall slick product
7. Get some form of Distribution beyond self distribution
8. Document everything on my production diary[/SIZE]

i really like your goals, Nathyn. I'm sure you will succeed (god knows you have the drive to).

inspiring.

keep on keepin' on : )
