Episode 3 Thoughts (Saw it last night (05.03.05) in Marin)

sugahsean, I can't tell if that was a spoiler (I stopped reading when I MAY have read too much) - but you may want to put "SPOILERS" at the heading of your post if it in fact is...:S

"UNNNNNLIMITED POOOWWEERRR!!!!!!!!!!!"

Ian McDiarmid is great, isn't he?!

Wow, never seen so many wet people in line!(it's raining here in CA)

All the 12-ish show were sold out in Fairfield and Vacaville(where I reside), but I actually got to see a 9:30pm "dry run"(where the print has to checked for bad splices, making sure the reels are in order, checking sound volume, etc) before they show it to the general public.

A correction from my first post: after watching it again last night, Jar Jar does speak one line: "Excuse me," although it is said off screen, thru the rear left surround channel.

at times i could not tell whether Palpatine was pretending to be helpless against Windu, but now i realize he was doing it to influence Anakin.

is that what he said? unlimited power? is that true for a sith?

Windu flaked out.

I dunno what I'm going to think after I've had some time to digest it. Some really corny dialogue and a little too much haste to tie up loose ends . . . though they WERE tied up.

Why was Windu able to match Palpatine, but Yoda was not? Weak.

I saw it a second time. I already knew when the parts that I didn't like were coming, so it enabled me to concentrate on the things that I did like.

I like it more now, but I'm still pretty dissapointed.

Isaac, your avatar reminds me- did any of you guys notice the Millenium Falcon in it?

I missed the Falcon. A buddy of mine caught it. I'm definitely ready for my second viewing. Which scene was it in?

Millenum falcon should have bigger time on screen as it´s a spaceship no one knows how old and Han inherit it, it would be fun to know who was the previous owner (previous than Lando, you know). And it would be a pleasure to see it more! Just like young Tarkin... It was great!

Just watched the Yoda scenes from "Empire."

Yoda was sooooooo much more believable as a puppet. So much more alive.

CGI is ruining film. (OK, that's an exaggeration, but just because something CAN be done by CGI, it does not follow that it MUST be done by CGI.)

Generally, I'd agree with you. But I think in Episode 3, Yoda looked just as convincing. In the previous episodes, I definitely preferred the puppet Yoda though, absolutely.

I thought the CGI flowed naturally with the live action. And they definitely improved Yoda's movement and cgi. Read an article that Lucas's FX people actually picked up some tips and tricks from Gollum in Lord of the Rings.

I believe it was in the scene when Anakin, Obi-Wan and Palpatine return to the Senate building after crash landing that big spaceship.

Sorry to resurrect this sucker, but I'm pissed. I just saw EPIII again at a second run theatre and I'm all CG'd out. The ending is nostalgic and strong, but everything leading up to it was flawed. I miss the organicness of the original three. I miss those great costumed aliens from Jabba the Hut in Return of the Jedi and the characters from Mos Eisley cantina. I'm so sick of CG secondary characters. I thought I'd like it more, but I like it so much less. Damn you Lucas....

End rant.
