Envision & RebeccaD Present "Where Silence Falls"

That is a cool story, Norm. Glad you made it safe, in spite of all your fiascos!

We are looking forward to hearing Justin's magic with the music score soon. It is a very crazy week though. My husband is out of town too, so I'm holding down the fort at my house as well.

He is so fantastic. I was moved by the score in our BTS and I know that he will really come through for us in our film. Thanks Justin!!! :love4:

Brandon, have you used Justin on any of your projects? I could see him doing a fantastic job with a full feature....

Yes! He just scored Smuggler's Ransom! He has two tracks from that score in the player on his website www.justindurban.com And he will for sure be on our SHORT list of guys for A Price Too High (Feature) this summer!

Very cool..... He definitely has a strong career with a lot of the peeps here. I'd love to see where he ends up with his talent.

Nice....

I am just getting so excited to see all of these films. I cannot hardly wait!! It really looks like there are going to be some pretty stellar entries.

Okey-dokey, chiming in after the Rebecca/Brandon marathon post session. Sheesh, I'm out all day & look at what I missed!

Got VERY little sleep last night ... like about 3+ hours. I guess I'm not suited for this travel stuff ... hate being away from the those I adore most back home.

As for the film, I just realized that the best/only day we're really going to have for recording ADR (at least for Rebecca's parts) is going to be Monday ... which is only two days before deadline!!! Yikes. Nothing like pressure to see what you can pull out in the final moments.

Norm, you have enough audio stuff there to pick through and do the post processing. You could get by with only ADRing her final scream. If you do the ADR in the exact same place it was recorded, you could easily get away with only ADRing that one line.

That would be nice....We are definitely going to be cutting it close. I haven't heard it yet, so we will see.

Thanks for checking out out thread man. I'm looking forward to view yours as well. This fest is going to be awesome.

I am excited for a war movie, too! :kali: Sweet! Thanks for checkin in on us.

You guys have a project here that just feels enormous. I watched the BTS docs and don't quite know what to say other than, "Jesus, what am I doing here?" Where Silence Falls looks really high-end and (it's starting to sound cliche, but it's true) I can't wait to see it. It will probably be the first movie I'll watch on the first.

On a side note, Norm, I wish you the best of luck in procuring financing for your feature length project. Again, not to sound cliche.

Wow, ignatious, thanks ... really appreciate the kudos on the BTS clip ... again, Justin's music is what REALLY ups the production value ... so he's also set the bar for what he needs to do for WHERE SILENCE FALLS, lol.

Speaking of which, just got the 1st draft from him, and Rebecca & I are going to remotely view it tonight & get our notes (if any) back to him tonight.

Hey Justin, Rebecca & I just got done going through the clip/score remotely (her on the west coast, me on the east coast) via phone & computer. I gave her your number, as I thought you'd MUCH rather hear her melodic voice vs. mine. Anyway, she's got a few notes to share with you, and there are some GREAT parts to this score, so we're excited as this little film only gets better & better now.

Color correction & ADR are going to be rushed, but I'll do my best to ensure there's no loss/sacrifice in quality due to the tight time frame.

Oh, Shawn, I meant to comment on this sooner, but I know that at least I personally am not good enough with doing what you're talking about, and I'll explain why I believe that is ....

While I'm quite proficient at being able to sync up dialogue/ADR with the original audio (replacing just the scream as you're suggesting), there's a bigger problem that I see here: Once you introduce ADR, you typically need to get rid of the other audio that's there, especially since the audio we're replacing is spiked/distorted (this is not the only place where it does this, but I'll just use this scene as the example) ... once we erase all the audio in that point, we need to completely rebuild the sound.

Now, IF we successfully recorded room tone for that exact scene/lighting, then we'll be fine ... I've got to find it first ... I know we got room tone/ambient on some, and not others. If we DIDN'T, then the problem would be recreating the same room tone. Even though I live in that house & could easily take my microphone that's in the same make/style as yours that we used, we have the problem that there are less bodies in the room, less equipment, not the same lights with the slight harmonic frequencies/buzz that the mic pics up, even though we may not hear it, etc. All of the elements that were in that room have an effect on the room tone, so if I can't perfectly match it in post, then it could still stand out to a degree.

Anyway, all that to say that I'm simply not good enough to drop in a line & recreate perfect pitch/roomtone, etc. to match other dialogue that was already in place. I've even seen some HUGE buget movies try this at times (replace just a line, etc. - KING KONG stands out in my mind; one of the opening scenes when they're in the jungle) and it's still not convincing and/or stands out like a sore thumb.

So at this moment, I'm planning on simply redoing an entire scene, if any of it has to be ADR'd for any reason (i.e. when Eric walks up stairs, it's just too far out of range, etc.).
