I'm uploading the iPod file now (updated the front page with the link), and will just replace the online file tomorrow, once I can get a rendered version that holds the correct aspect ratio .... got any suggestions/quick tips?

SWEET! I love having films on the IPOD. You rock! :cheesy:

Oh, and Ted, thanks for that kicker back up with the 5-Star rating. :) Look forwad to your thoughts on the BTS video ... which, BTW, I could use your input.

My QT7Pro only has one default for exporting for iPod. But it apparently doesn't handle the widescreen AVI as well as I'd hoped, because the image looks a little tall/stretched. Not much, but just enough to where I notice & it's bugging me.

Not sure how much I can help but I will try.

When I exported to iPod, my film looked fine. (seemed to have the same aspect ratio) But I didn't export it from an AVI file. Instead, I exported it from my ORIGINAL EXPORTED H.264 file. Maybe that made a difference.

I am off to download your bts vid now.

BTS is downloading now..... but in the meantime....

HAHAHA!!!! I didn't know that Rebecca was a slate clapper as well as an actor! Nice clip. Very cute.

You have to check out Blaine's slate clapper in HOLLYWOOD GOTHIC... she'll give Rebecca a run for her money!!!

Hey Norm, I downloaded the iPod version of your bts vid but it is a txt file! Did I do something wrong?

Anyway, I am downloading your QT version now, instead.

Let me know about the iPod version. I'd like to assist if I can.

Hey Norm! GREAT JOB on the bts video. Loved it! The music is AWESOME! Wow. Nicely done.

My one comment (if you don't mind), I really hated the way that you "disappear" so quickly after signing off (00;06;25). If you could fade out after a closing beat/last smile or something. It just seems like you haven't finished your presence there. (maybe that is for theatrical reasons but it felt a little jarring.)

But over all.... I LOVED IT!!!! I am so envious! Looks like a lot of fun.

Great job.

I'll follow up with the iPod export question when you get online.

-Ted

Well, I hate to fill this page up with nothing but my posts (save one from Rebecca!) but I just had to post and say....

WTF??? I just checked out the resume of Dan Ayers (DP/Steadicam). Holy Cow! WOW! Tell me, how did you get this guy???

Well, I already mentioned that the first half of the BTS you posted yesterday was extremely professional...you continued that with the remainder of the BTS. I just finished watching the full cut and have to tell you it was fantastic. You did an outstanding job  ...I may have to hire you to do my promotional work :)

Just watched the BTS video.

A scored, fully credited and very well edited BTS...

very impressive to say the least!

Man, I shoulda had a roming DVX for the Smuggler's shoot.... WAIT... nevermind... we were shooting on my DVX :)

Lucky dog, shooting with the HVX and that SLICK steadicam :)

Nice BTS Norm!

Wow, thanks for the props, everyone, MUCH appreciated. Ted, I cut away so quickly on that shot you're talking about because I quickly moved my head away. However, I'll see if I can convincingly slow it down & fade out more.

Craig's List. Yep, seriously. At least that's where the first contact came from, him responding to the advertisment I placed about TRINITY RIVER, the feature. Then we met, I was able to sell him on my vision, he loved the story, and then I mentioned wanting to do a short in advance to see how everyone clicked together (which I mention in the BTS). He was game for it. I've not seen the footage yet (will today), but I know for the Steadicam work, he did an AMAZING job.

Oh, I see. (about the cut) It works as is. I didn't mean to sound negative. I just wanted a bit of closure before you faded off.
MODIFIED... I actually just watched that cut several times and it doesn't bother me anymore. I just gave you my immediate reaction after my initial viewing.

Great find with Dan Ayers. Gotta love Craigslist (when you can weed through all of the garbage that is now has!).

I just found your thread for TRINITY RIVER on the user film's menu. Sounds like great progess over there. Congrats!

Did you get my post about the iPod version of the bts vid. Did I do that wrong or is there a bad file there.

Sorry, I forgot to reply to that specific iPod post/comment you had. Also no worries on the edit comment ... I'm going to see about making a tweak to it now (didn't take the comment as a negative, and your FIRST reaction could be what investors have as well, when viewing - may not get second chances for them to view again, like you did), especially since I'm not pleased with the 2nd iPod render I just did, which you can test if you want at www.eefilm.com/silence/bts/video/silencebts2.mv4

As far as the one you tried coming out as a txt file, I'm not sure what that's about. Perhaps it downloaded without the file extension ... if so, try renaming it with a ".mv4" at the end to see if that fixes it ... I know I've had that issue before with .mov and/or .wmv files.

I am going to download it to my Ipod later today... thanks for the info.

Ted, thanks for all your nice comments too! Norm has indeed done a great job with the BTS video and it's nice to hear such support from everyone. It was and is a great crew to work with.

Totally LOVE Craigslist... I found my sound designer, and my costume designer (for SR and CF) on there, and they're both terrific, professional people!

My pleasure. Really looked like a great time. I wish that we had more cameras rolling on our set! It would be nice to have such a keepsake.

I am going to have to figure out what I did wrong with the download of the iPod version. It is really weird. The file name I downloaded is: silencebts.m4v.txt I will try again.

Oh, that IS odd ... but you should be able to delete the last part of that ".txt", and it should work fine ... I think!

EDIT: Oh, and thanks, Robert, much appreciated. My guess is (still ITCHING to see the footage sometime today, after I get a call from Dan) that if you guys liked what you saw with the camera that was at times litterally held over my head so that I could just point & shoot (while focusing on what I was seeing in the monitor of Rebecca's performance so I could direct when not on screen), then you should all love what comes out of the camera that they actually framed, measured focus on, etc.

Well, I'll be damned... THAT DID WORK! I deleted the ".txt" portion of the file and ta-da! It worked!

But you are right, the aspect ratio is off.

I don't know if you saw my post earlier but when I exported my film to iPod, I went from a h.264 file and it worked perfectly. The aspect ratio remained correct.

My concern with that, however, is having a second generation compressed file ... I want to keep the iPod version looking as clean as possible, hence the reason I'm wanting to go from an uncompressed AVI. Since the iPod is square pixel (I think ... or at least it's a solid 4:3 aspect ratio), I'm going to render out an uncompressed AVI (widescreen), then black bar it within a 4:3 aspect ratio project to another uncompressed or high-resolution AVI.

Heck of a lot of work for a freakin' iPod, but for those who want it (yeah, you know who you are ... ahem, Rebecca), I want it to be perfect ... I'm kind of retentive that way.
