entry level video editing SW for PC

Hi all,

It seems my grandson (aged 5) wants to edit pictures and video. So his father is going to get him his first PC. Everyone else in his house used iPads and phones :-(
I have a legit copy of Photoshop Elements for the still photos so that leaves the video.

Can anyone recommend any inexpensive/free easy to use video ending SW to run on a WIn10 PC?

VideoPad, works on Windows and Mac and iOS and Android. Might also consider WavePad for the audio if he needs to record anything separate.

Make sure to get it directly from NCH software, there are some sketchy places that also seem to offer it. There is a free version which might do most of what he needs.

Hi guys, thanks for that
I have just discovered 2 things
1 if you start a thread you are not automatically subscribed to it!
2 Windows Movie Maker was discontinued in early 2017 :-( M$ removed all the downloads. There are also warnings that places offering downloads are dubious.

So I will look at VidoePad and get it from the official site.

Thanks.

I think it might be movie maker live or something like that. Can't say I really track it so it might really be gone.

It seems that The M$ move maker has gone. :-(
I hate it when a company does that. Builds up an infrastructure and then just kills it.
It would not be sobbed if they just left the download pages in place and said provided as is. "sold as seen" etc.

Given the warnings about malware in the unofficial download places for it and that MS are not going to support it on Win10 I think using VideoPad, WavePad and the mixPad are the best option.

You can do real three point editing in VideoPad, it actually works very well (or at least did many years ago when I last played with it).

I just checked prices... didn't realize that VideoPad had gotten so expensive. Normally $100 but on sale until the end of the month at 30% off.

You can also get this at the Microsoft app store, but no discount there.

There is also a free version. I can't fined the difference between the paid for and free version. It is for a 5 year old so I don't want to spend money if this is going to be The Most Important Thing In The World..... until Easter then he never looks at it again. However if he really gets into it $100 is a LOT less than FCPX (as I will have t buy him a MAC :-) or most of the other options!
