The accurate clock for the Tascam is a Denecke GR-1. It was quite recently updated by Denecke, including a new battery tray. GR-1 SOLD

The Tascam HD-P2 is reliable and I've had mine for 6 years, so whoever ends up being it it sure to be happy. Question though, did you not find it's internal clock reliable enough that you bought an external device for timecode?

Yes, the internal clock is the weak link in this otherwise well reviewed recorder. With the two items for sale here, one can have pro level timecode for half the price of the next cheapest alternative. Discussion here:
