FEATURE: ENTOURAGE: Jersey Edition

sound is a little....Less :-p

But don't worry...it's normal sound is always less for starters :-p

And it's always the same: turn off heaters, turn off computers, turn off fridges, remove batteries from clocks, turn off music, let people be quiet...
It doesn't cost any money...

Does it realy needed to be a 46min movie ? I think it's better you make a short of 5minutes, with a good story, shot in 1 or 2 days, rather then wanting to make a 46min movie, shot fast fast fast because there's no time to wait for the airplane to fly away....

Yeah, sound's definitely not good.

The length is what it is because I wanted one last big project to tackle before college. I made a bunch of 5-10 min shorts throughout high school, and just wanted to do something special. You're right it's definitely a quality vs. quantity issue...could've shot it better if it was a short. But at the end of the day, it was a big production we spent our summer over...premiered it over winter break and it got some great reception. The experience was all well worth it.

Yes you can always learn. Don't expect to make oscar-winning stuff the first time....

And I wonder...how come that only soundpeople are aware of disturbing sound ? (like fridges, clocks, heaters, cars passing, airplanes, music...) :-p

Checked it out. Eh. Not knowing how many you've shot previously I'm not sure how to gauge it.

Definitely too long. Longer than the actual show. Technical issues are gonna happen, but you definitely should be trying to nip all of those that you can.

Overall, the biggest issue I had was that it's kind of uninspired. Was it supposed to be a spoof of the show? Or just a copy?

It seems that if you wanted to do a spoof of it...then they shouldn't have been in the entertainment business at all. They should have Jersey jobs with the similar dynamics of the show.

If it's intended to be a copy...well, you don't have the resources to do that...so that's my main issue. Would have rather seen a young filmmaker take a stab at something original or at least but some really unique spin on it.

Just my .02

Keep it going.

Yeah, I suppose something just gets lost in the translation when releasing it on the internet to strangers...a lot of them pros. :)

We made an entourage fan film (not a spoof, and not something original either) because it was something fun we had been talking about for a few years...but never really had the time or effort to pull off. It was a big (relative to anything else I've done), fun project that a lot of people wanted to work on over the summer...and it was just sort of a goodbye to high school.

That's why it's longer than the actual show's 30-min runtime. 30 minutes was just a little too short to play around with the characters while still trying to tell something of a full story (keep in mind the characters usually end up accomplishing very little in a standard entourage episode). And I certainly wasn't ready to tackle a feature...so 45-50 minutes seemed right for what we wanted to do.

And while it's definitely not a spoof and we were trying to make it in the vein of entourage, there is a certain element of the audience being in on the whole thing. It's an entourage episode...but longer, and at times a little sillier, and with people you know playing the characters and in locations that you hang out in.

It really was intended for people I went to high school with to watch in one sitting at a premiere...which they did. I just figured I would put it out there and see what others had to say. Believe me, your comments are well appreciated. I know it's not perfect. Just wanted to establish what its "inspiration" was.

I watched the first two scenes. First, I don't know why you switched of camera in the intro, it looks bad. Also a big big big abuse of optical flares in the first scene. When he calls the guy in the night, we can clearly see the sun's light getting into the room, and that's a bit ruining the context. Yeah also, get an external mic, or if you do, get something to cut the wind or use DeNoizer on the editing.

I'll probably watch more later.
