Well, I've seen it. The visuals and sound are outstanding. The film and story as a whole not so much. The story was forced far to much. You were suposed to feel for the characters and feel bad at the end of the movie, but it didn't work for me. I didn't care about the characters and it was too much on the nose.
The most inventive, technically ambitious film since Kubrick's 2001. It's like a cross between the work of Terrence Malick, Jan Kounen, and Lars Von Trier. Pretentious at times but also uniquely, utterly spellbinding.
I was eagerly anticipating this one. Irreversible was a phenomenally moral film, and I was looking forward to Gasper Noe's next breakthrough. Saw it in the theater because I knew a television screen wouldn't do it justice. I was abysmally disappointed. My initial review was to call it an "iTunes visualizer of drawn-out drug porn garbage". Perhaps that was a bit harsh, but I still feel it was misguided and was in desperate need of some structure to ground it (excuse the pun).
