Enhancing dialogue recording with music in the BG

Hi all. I recorded an interview at a bar with a Rode VMP straight into my A7SIII. I would like to isolate as much as possible the dialogue (woman) from the music being played in the BG by a DJ (a lot of bass). I've tried a high pass filter and it didn't do much. I know I should have limited expectations because they're on the same track, but any suggestions? Thanks

Spectral Layers is very good for this kind of thing, and I'm told Izotope have a similar and well performing product to separate wanted from unwanted.

If you do a lot of these, consider lavs next time, especially low-sensitivity models that they use in places like this to pretty much only capture the person's voice.

I had my Rode WGIIs in my bag but it was one of those impromptu moments that I didn't have time to grab them...

I have Steinberg's SpectaLayers Pro which can create 'stem' or 'component' files that would likely give you the option to remove the BG music. There are other options in SLP as well. I think iZ's 'RX Advanced' has 'similar process' too but it's is 'a little' pricey. The low cost RX Elements does not have those tools and I'm not sure medium priced 'RX Standard'
'Spleeter' (free) can allegedly extract stems too, but I am skeptical ..I have not tried it though.

Have a listen to this demo I knocked up. This is a complex commercial song where the vocals were separated from the backing tracks. The first twenty seconds is the full mix of the song. The second twenty is just the music backing track. The last twenty is just the vocals. It's not 100% but it's the best way I have found at extracting vocals from noisy backgrounds. It uses AI algorithms to achieve the audio separations. Not 100% but pretty damn good. I've found after the separations that by mixing the isolated vocals track with a very low level of the isolated background audio track you can come up with a very usable result. To boot it's a process that's free and fast. Worth donating to in my opinion. Just upload your audio track at the link below and when it's processed just down download your isolated tracks. Good luck.
