English/US TV terminology - help needed!

Hey guys,
I can´t find information about the right terminology for - now it comes - reports(?) on TV.
I´m talking about "editorial pieces" having a length of 3 to 7 minutes.
How do you call sth like this?
Shown on TV, covering a certain topic, with interviews and an off-voice.

So is this a "news report"?
Or a "news coverage"?

Also how do you call smaller or longer "films"?

When do you start calling sth a "documentary"? 30min?
One hour of length?

And am I using editorial correctly for "sth that has been investigated and put tigether by a journalist"...?

Thanks for helping a non native speaker out!

It depends on the larger context. If the piece is part of a newscast, then it's a report. If it's part of a news-magazine/tabloid-style program, it can be called a segment or a report. If it's independent, it might be a featurette (such as for the web) or an interstitial (runs on TV as an independent mini-program in between regular programs). Or some might cal it a mini-doc.

And "documentary" has more to do with style and purpose than it does with length of the program.

Also how do you call smaller or longer "films"?

I'm not quite sure what you're asking here. Why is "films" in quotation marks? For film-makers, there are basically short films and feature-length films. Is that what you were looking for?

Where I come from a lot is named according its length. A documentary usually is over 60min, I was wondering if there was sth similar in the US, like saying a "film" up to 5 minutes is called this, up to 15 minutes called that aso...

You helped me a lot thank!
