ENG-style lighting options?

Yes. I'm in Orlando too. We have some LED traffic lights. Hope you have fun in Otown. Having really nice weather here this week.

I would like to point out something about the VidLed products. I was looking at the specks and such http://vidled.com/productspecifications.html and the color temps that they get with these things are wild. 2850, 1150 and 7250? Is this part of how they keep their cost low? Seems like if you are trying to match ambient lighting this could be problematic, or make for a funky white balance.

Any feedback from users or someone with more experiance would be great. At a fraction of the cost of the lite Panels it may be a decent purchase, but not if they look bizarre.

Thanks.

Hey there.
Actually, it's because we MEASURE the color temperature ourselves, and don't just give an IDEAL value that is rounded up or down.
Like to point out that that page is outdated by three days: the new LED lights are now better in color temperature.

Well they do have a dimmer pot on them, right? I realize that can throw off the color temperature (or I assume it could, though I've never used LED's).

I'll let you know, as I ordered one. For what I need and the cost, it should be adequate.

And I have to wonder if that battery pack, the one that does various voltages, might also be able to power a hard drive in a pinch. Let the mind wander...

Hey there,
yep, it should EASILY be able to do that, as long as the hard drive is 3V, 4.5V, 5V, 6V, 7.5V, 9V, 12V, or 14V (I guess most are probably 12V).
It really is an amazing battery pack.

Yes, they are dimmable with a pot.
The color temp does change a little on the lower end (about 0%-30% brightness) with these latest LEDs, but the advantage was a much better color temp overall.

Got my Vidled yesterday. Holy crap is that bright. I ran it on a charged battery for two and a half hours and it barely made a dent in the battery. Well done. Much brighter and cooler than an AB Ultralight, and I don't need AB batteries!

Which one did you get? I have a Daylight one on the way and I am anxious to try it.

Glad ya'll are going with this product. I'll be buying one soon after credit cards stop burning up. They also seem very friendly and courteous guys there. It's also such a deal compared to the other options.

So what have been everyone's impressions? Anyone mounting or using it off the camera? What batteries did everyone buy?

Keep in mind that prices will probably go up soon....well, back to what they were, i.e. the sale will end.

There's two things that we're going to offer: a swivel head, and a suction cup. "Problem" with the swivel head is with inconsistent sizes of shoe mounts, because this head does not have a counter nut, so it tends to be loose on some cameras. The suction cup can be used to attach the light to a window, or TV screen, etc. etc.

I got my vidled the other day. I went with the cool model and I am impressed in the amount of light this puts out. I also got my warm gels today which tones it down some. I am using it with a DVX and my only complaint (if you can call it that) is the shotgun mic mount can not be in place, in the end I just hooked it upside down :)
Vidled you guys were great, answered all questions and shipped promptly.
Thanks

The brightest one. It's more blue than yellow in tone, but as long as you're not putting stuff (or people) right next to it, it's not bad. Your white balance has more to do with what you'll get out of it.

When does your sale end? Any DVXuser discount?

Not sure exactly when the sale will end, but probably late March/early April.
And yes, there will be some kind of DVXuser discount after that, for sure.
maybe free shipping or something like that, details are not worked out yet.
