I like scenes with 2 guys and woman on chair, looks very filmic, congrats, which camera did you use ? Some outside shots arent as good and filmic like those shots in room, even shots without DOF look very filmic.
I dont like the sound, your mic lack bass freqs ,in films there is more bass in voices.

Thank you for the comments on the work. Would you mind letting me know which exterior shots are not as fimic as the interiors? I'd like to make sure on the next one that I'm on the ball in every scene and everything looks the best it can. :)

I used a JVC HD100 pretty stock camera. As for the mic, I pulled a lot of the bass frequencies out during post. I guess maybe a few too many. I'll make sure to keep them in next time.

I really appreciate you taking the time to check it out. Thank you.

For my eye,all interior shots look like cutted out from real film, that looks very good ,maybe its because its quite dark and theres no visible whites.
On beginning some shots you could make with DOF,you were outside so it was possible,i think its always better to get this shallow DOF if you are able to do it,so move far away and zoom in, ive seen some DOF shots in interior takes and they were good,so i wondered why you didnt did them outside when you had even more space to move back and zoom in.
Last conversation looks sometimes good on shots with guy with moustache ,they have DOF ,but overall picture there is somewhat muddy,i dont know there is some vignetting in the corners ?ITs not so sharp as interior shots ,Did you used some lens adapter or something ?
Sound on last sequence when 2 guys are talking is like sound recorded in cinema to your camcorder, its somewhat filmic but its muddy ,it sounds like there was some delicate reverb and quality loss ,im not sure,it sounds nice sometimes but it doesnt fit with this soft footage.
When i comparing interior and exterior shots then it looks like different films, your interiors are really great ,its especially visible when guy with gun calls her boyfriend and shots are changing from interiors to exteriors ,its like different film completely on those exteriors.
First scenes, shots where we see man's shoulders and woman's face look most filmic from your exteriors.Probably because not much whites are there and its not muddy.Shots from behind woman's head when we see man talking arent that good looking.I would even move them somewhere else just to get DOF.Nobody needs to know that they werent sitting in the same place. He has some whites on his shirt so maybe they got my attention and it doesnt look so filmic for my eye.
Shot wheere boyfriend receives photo of his woman tied to chair is big no no no,there is one huge white sky behind him, i would avoid sky with video cameras ,they can easily overexpose your footage, video cameras aare not film cameras and arent recording overeposed areas in the same way.Maybe it was this kind of day where sky was really white and not blue but anyway, avoid sky in your shots ,its only a problem for your cam.Interior footage proves this ,you can get very filmic shots without sun. With nice lightning. Then you really controlling your image, its hard to control the sun.

That was an incredible post. Thank you so much for going indepth like that. I really appreciate hearing anything I could do to make my films even better. I never thought about keeping the sky out of the frame. This was shot during, mostly, very sunny days here in CA and there was a very light blue sky going on that is easily very close to a more white on the horizons.

As for the sound on the last scene, there was a huge air compressor right above the scene that killed all on set sound, so I had to ADR that entire scene. I kept the natural reverb that I got during the post phase because they're talking in an enclosed alley and figured it would add to the ambience. I'm not sure it worked quite as well as I was hoping.

The lake scene was actually a second day of shooting for that scene. The first day was a different location and we got attacked by a rogue fountain and had to scrap the day. For the following day, lake, I moved really fast as I just wanted to make sure the scene hit the proverbial can. :)

Thank you again for all your input. I really appreciate it.
