EMERGENCY! - SxS data vanished!

Here's what happened... shot footage all morning and had to scoot to the airport before capturing to my macbook pro. Once I put the SxS card in the slot and tried to unwrap via XDCAM transfer, 0 clips showed up in the browser. I tried restarting the computer, wp the card and doing a general diagnostic on the computer as well. Still nothing. I then copied the BPAV files (12.8gbs) to an archive drive in hopes that some how it can be unwrapped.

When I put the card in the camera on media view mode, only the SxS logo comes up, no clips.

What's going on, how do I save this footage?!

Thanks

Others have had similar problems and I know of no definite solution from the boards - many suggestions are made but I'm not sure if any of them has proven to work.

The various suggestions usually are the typical disk utilities and data recovery apps - disk warrior, etc.

The SxS card is treated like a drive by the OS and the theory is that it can be recovered like a drive.

There are certain programs designed to recover data on a CF card (for digital stills) maybe one of these might do it.

I found this in a quick google search - never tried it:

Here's the strange part... the data IS there... as in, I have copied over the BPAV file directly from the SxS card. When you format your SxS card it formats so there is no BPAV left on the card, thus the clips are somehow on the card but are no recognized by XDCAM transfer... Not sure if recovery is the solution, or if I've done something to the card itself? In any case I've WP the card in preparation to mail it to Sony for them to extract and unwrap the data... if nothing else, replace the card! This is a detrimental problem for the solid state format if it cannot be resolved!

Has anyone else had this problem?

Thanks Matthew for your input, I'll try the mediarecover software and let you know!

Problem being solved as we speak. I resorted to calling Sony's troubleshoot line at the following number

1-800-883-6817 (Dial 2 5 2 to skip menus)

Anyway, it seems like the problem was the SxS card became corrupted. Sony's Clip Browser Software, somehow can correct some of these corruption errors.

https://servicesplus.us.sony.biz/SoftwareFreeDownload.aspx

that's the link to the updated software. I then imported the mp4 files from within the BPAV directory folder into the Clip Browser... making a copy of this new directory of imported clips and will try and un-wrap this new directory in XDCAM transfer... fingers crossed, but the good news is I can actually SEE the footage now!

Cheers!

No dice... shipped the card off to Sony... maybe their programmers can come up with a working MEDIAPRO.XML file which seems to be the source of the corruption.

Using VLC exporting to MP4 and using wire tap pro to capture uncompressed audio, linking files in FCPS2... temporary solution, and surely a quality decrease.
