Hi Guys,

My editor has deleted all files relating to a Commercial that has to go to air Near Boxing Day.

Is there any way of getting these files back Mac OSX 10.4.11 Operating SYstem...on a mac of course.

SOftware..etc etc

Whatever you do stop using the drive that the files were located on. Don't save anything to it or install anything to it. This will help protect the data from being written over until you find a solution to get it back.

I haven't been able to find any freeware solutions for you, so it might cost some $$ to get the files back. :(

Here's a few:

http://www.binarybiz.com/vlab/mac.html (charges by the gigabyte)
An entire list - http://www.softplatz.com/software/recover-mac-files/

Good luck!

Edit: Here's some info from Apple which might help - http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302150

Oh...

OK never mind. I wonder how many times somebody has assumed their footage is gone when it was really just in the trashcan.

If you're using final cut you should have a copy in your autosave vault. It's in a folder called Final Cut Pro documents. By default it's set to save a copy of whatever project you're working on every 45 minutes. You'd have to redigitize everything but hopefully your complete sequence is there.

This sounds like your best bet and shouldn't take too long to re-digitize. Time to work in a nightly backup of current projects into your workflow. Just spend the couple hundred on a Terabyte drive and have your editor backup projects and footage before heading out.

Damn, shame I'm a PC guy, otherwise I have a cool data restoration program, and its damn good, would have been more then happy to email it to ya.

This is not a digg at macs! so don't take this comment in that way :)

This is why I have Time Machine running on my new Mac.

Any luck recovering the data? Did you try what was suggested with the auto save folder?
